Normal?

I'm assuming you bought brand new shoes from a reputable (aka real, actual, etc) online retailer? If so, each shoe should have come in a separate, clear plastic bag....i'm not sure how the lugs on one shoescan scratch the other shoe?

CHromexcel does appear "scratched, aged" etc, especially when bent.....straighten it up, and leave it for a few days, and it will disappear. It's one of those funky leathers that, as you wear them, appear less worn...if you understand me. No, I'm not talking about the dirt, salt, dust, etc that accumulates....

I've been a big fan of Alden shoes for many years. Having said that I have never been so disappointed as I have in the Chromexel bluchers I now have. They are only two months old and look terrible, scuffed something awful. And they have only been worn to the office a few times. They scuff very easily, and when they do the color is often completely gone, just a raw leather look underneath. The finish is very fragile! And, as far as I know, there is no polish or shoe cream for them (neutral doesn't cut it when the color is scuffed off). I would give them back to Alden for a small fraction of what I paid for them.
