I like the way the jacket looks, but does anyone else think the length is just way too long?

I am 5'11" and it makes me look like a dwarf. Is this jacket made for people over 6'2"?

Should I look into the Bedale instead?

What about the Bedale jacket compared with the Beaufort?

Is it possible to take in and shorten the Beaufort?

Tailoring a Beaufort... wouldn't that be like tailoring overalls or something? It's utility gear.

I have one, by the way, and I have worn it zero times.

I need to take up hunting in the English countryside, I suppose.

You don't find the overall length of the beaufort to be too long?

It looks like it's made for people over 6'2".

I'm 5'10" and have a 40 Beaufort which I love and think looks great over a SC /Tweed with jeans. I don't think you have to be 6'2" to use it, it's supposed to be on the long side and it's not supposed to be tailored or trim. Just my $ 0.02

I just picked up a Beaufort a couple of months ago and don't find it too long and I am 5'9".

I don't like how the jacket makes a person's shoulders look really slanted and narrow. Also because the jacket doesn't taper towards the bottom and actually flairs out towards the bottom makes it look like you're wearing a woman's poncho. Add this to the fact that the length makes you look like a dwarf and makes me wonder why any guy would buy this.

If you are worried about length, just get a bedale.

Tailoring a beaufort wont really work because of where the pockets are located, it will look weird, and I am not sure what they would do with the game pocket.

On a separate note, I would advise against the "classic" version and suggest the non-classic version. If you do some research you will find that the non-classic version is actually the version sold for the last several decades....I know the naming doesn't make sense. I have both, while the only differences are the color and the type of finish, the non-classic version develops a much nicer patina over time.

Barbour Jackets are great but many forget they are designed with country sports in mind. That means often wearing a tweed blater or thick pullover underneath. In some circles they have become a fashion item but for me will remain a functional albeit goodlooking item of clothing. If one wear no Jacket or Pullover underneath they can look a little of an odd fit sometimes bordering on sloppy but thats the way they are
