Man, that sounds annoying! Another reason why I'm glad I don't have a cell (aside from being unreachable when I'm away from the house/office.

Yes, yes, it is. I'm getting nostalgic for my days without it.

Verizon customer service came up with an "interesting" diagnosis. They said that LG produced multiple copies of the same phone (ESN numbers) and sold them so, according to them, one of the user has to stop using his or her phone for the other to work properly (translation: not their fault). He then proceed to try to sell me another contract and another new phone. I hung up and called LG. LG, not surprisingly, has no idea what Verizon customer service is talking about (translation: my nostalgia is now mixed bitterness).

Tell them give you a new phone with a new number. And no LG phone.

Go into a Verizon store and tell them what happened, remember to be nice (I'm being serious) tell them that if they can not fix it then they can go ahead and cancel your contract and wave the fee, being that it is clearly a Verizon mistake. If they decide to bs you, ask for the manager tell them youve talked to countless agents and no solution, tell him to give you a new number if he has to but that you need the problem to stop, because your paying for their service. Of your nice they generally fix issues from what I have noticed, I just got my iPhone swapped for a new one , after the 14 days, if that doesn't fix it them get s little irritated and tell them to gov you free service until they can fix your issue.

Strange that Verizon would not have taken care of it by now, they have been great to me so far. Got a free jawbone off them because one of their reps made a mistake and I was PISSED.
