Fancy lining for a coat?

Hello,so i've a black coat like this
http://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/10687...?$detail_main$

STYLE is like this, but mine is wool not leather.I don't like it very much now but i think it has a potential of becoming a good coat,i want to make it slimmer in the waist, and change lining to something more fancy,it's almost black now,and i don't think black on black looks good.So I want something like this

I'm considering something in red or purple, flower pattern or paisley...
I'll be wearing this mostly with jeans and a shirt.
Is it appropriate to change lining to something more colorful or no?
Thanks.

I have an Original Penguin coat that has an interesting lining.

The lining of a coat is hardly ever seen by anyone except the wearer. If you're getting a custom coat made, by all means go for an unusual lining, but it seems like an unnecessary expense to replace the lining of a coat for the sole purpose of making it more interesting (especially if, as you mention, you don't really like the coat). I wouldn't do it, FWIW.

No i said that i don't like it now,i said that i don't like how it fits me,it fits baggy and i want to make it slimmer in the waist so it'll fit better, and pimp it a little bit.If i won't find a good printed fabric i'll go with something like this- What would you say? I like fancy lining on blazers/sc,even if nobody sees that i like it,but i haven't seen a lining like that on a coat, will it work?

I don't see the logic of putting on something that is interesting and not letting others see it. Why not just purchase a fancy-looking tie or something that can add accent to your clothing. In that way, you will not only fascinate yourself but others as well. As for you inquiry, though, I guess you'll just have to try it out. Like what qhd990 said, you will never know unless you try it for yourself. Good luck!

Thanks.

if its something you want to do, do it. sure, its the lining of the coat and people won't be starring at it, but its your coat, if it makes you happy, do it.

be forewarned, its expensive.
I had a coat whith a frayed lining which I needed repaired. I brought it to my tailor and asked about swapping it out for something with color. he said regardless of the fabric, it would be around a $150 job (this is a 3/4 length coat)
I ended up just having him replace the frayed areas.
