2 years on, can we just take a moment to reflect on the awesomeness that was ss10?

ahhh yes, that rust color..

I remember someone linking the SZ discussion thread about Ervell and specifically this use of rust. Reading it was like putting my head in a vise. Then again, you could say that about almost every thread on SZ...

If it was 'good' it didn't sell well, all I saw for like 12 months on B&S / Gilt / eBay was those shitful rust prints

The problem with Ervell is that he doesn't change anything

I think a lot of people were interested in Ervell but got burnt out of the same things done over and over and over

Plenty of designers rehash, but damn son, It's been the same shawl collar cardigan for like five straight seasons

Honestly I think it was a couple of seasons ahead of its time. If I was in america I would've bought all the stuff that ended up on Gilt. Those were some ridiculous deals.

Selling well has never been an indication of good anyway. Like anything, most of the colours can be worn in less eye-popping modes.

It's still my favourite collection ever

I can't really be bothered looking at recent collections. It's not particularly inspiring.

I don't mind rehashes from Ervell though to be honest. Sooo many people have copied his shit, but don't get it right. His stuff is so much better than all the copycats. This in contrast with, say, Rick.

I think fall '11 is my favourite. It's just perfect.

Fall '12 looks horrible though. frown.gif

I have the feeling that FW12 is missing inspiration as well. Maybe he is overstrained doing his woman line. On the other hand, I almost always had that feeling looking at Ervell first and then it somehow grows on me. Thinking of it, there will be some nice pieces this FW. I like this suit:

im surprised he opted for a traditional structured (padded) shoulder look this season especially because most designers have embraced the soft shoulder. its also a contrast to previous seasons when mostly all of his jacker shoulder were unpadded.
