SCHOTT CAFE RACER JACKET, Style 546
This is a VERY rare jacket, as it was only made between 1997 and 1999. (Confirmed directly by Gail at Schott.) And it's absolutely beautiful, combing the sleek and minimalist Cafe Racer style with some seriously heavy leather.
This jacket is black--the only colour this model was produced in, I believe--and features a bi-swing back for ease of movement in all directions, a half-belt at the back with fully functional double buckles (the leather straps here show no signs of wear), a quilted lining, two hand-warmer pockets on the front, a single zipped chest pocket, and a single interior pocket. The main zipper is a USA-made Ideal. And, of course, being a Schott is was Made in the USA at Schott's Family-Owned and Unionised factory in Elizabeth, NJ.
This jacket is in excellent condition, with no scrapes, tears, dryness to the leather, or road rash. There is some minor pilling to the interior of the quilted lining at waist level (shown), and the inside lining of one of the hand-warmer pockets needs to be re-stitched as it's become detached on one side along the seam (shown). But this is a very easy fix--or else something that could just be ignored! The chest pocket zipper is beautifully fluid, as is the main chest zipper--although when I tried this on it did catch a bit on at the start of the downward pull. This, though, is probably as I take a 40 in Schotts, and this is a 38... (I was being very hopeful, as I've never seen a Schott 546 before, and think with the current 141 it's the most classic and wearable jacket they produce.
) I had no trouble with the zipper when I wasn't wearing the jacket!Given the style, this jacket is beautifully wearable, and given its quality, it will last for decades. And given its rarity--especially in this condition and size!!--you'll probably be the only person wearing one.
