No argument, really. The top 'tier' represents shoe making of the highest quality. AS "Handgrade", C&J "Handgrade", and G&G can also be included here. Middle 'tier': most shoes are about the same price point. Personally, I like Tricker's - probably edges it over C&J benchgrade e.g channelled leather soles (on their business shoes), strong leathers, robust construction, iconic country shoes and boots, etc. Bottom 'tier': you pay for what you get. I've owned shoes from most of the Northampton makers. EG is the one for me.

None of my other shoes have ever worn like this. Look at the pics in the link and they're even worse now after a couple more wears. Hmm. I wanted to like these shoes so much as I thought really they were the ultimate brogue and they do cost a significant amount of money.
Why don't you simply resole your Graftons with dainite?

The shoes I want now aren't to replace the Graftons I have. I just want a brogue in a different colour. I already have the Church Polished Binder Burgundy Burwood and I fancied a light to medium tan shoe as well. I think I may have been unlucky with the Graftons I have as I've never had a shoe wear so quickly at the front and nobody else has reported this with the general opinion being that they are long lasting. they should last a long time as they are double (some say triple?) soled. I may get some tips put on the front of the soles if not too late as this is the only place they are worn. The heal and mid sole are near new thickness. I really haven't walked very far in these shoes. I may get them resoled in Dainite when the time comes if it is possible to do that. I'll as Church's if it is possible.

If your grafton have worn at the front (and they clearly have in pic) im surprised you havent had trouble with other leather soled shoes because generally speaking the way you walk determines the wear patterns. I suggest the grafton, if you get them in the rubber day-night sole (looks no different from above) the problem with the wearing will cease.  Polished binder is attractive and gives an easily maintained shine BUT in all brands and makes of shoe the polished leathers will crack easier, which will shorten the life of the shoe so you have to really care for them with shoe trees and weekly use polishing cream.

Churchs cost the money they do because they come in good leather meaning they are attractive and a good fit. I suggest you try the grafton or at least go to Church flagships (reagent st, bond st, jermyn st) and asking the advice of the OLDER employees. do the same thing for the trickers, just try them on, fit is the best thing to go by as a well made shoe fits well
