What do you think of this jacket? It's from my late uncle's store.

was anybody in your family a printer? My grandfather and father were and now I have like a few hundred of those typecases like you have sitting up on the wall in storage and I don't know what to do with them.

Nope, I think my brother got that thing at a yard sale a million years ago. Both my uncle and great grandfather were clothing store owners. The Steeple Chase in Ann Arbor, MI and A Star Best and Company in Chicago.

Jacket's ok; too big in the arms

You're going to have to start channeling swagger a la James Dean/Steve McQueen to make this work, however, otherwise Baracutas look like old-man comfort wear

It makes you look like an overweight middle aged guy. The length is probably ok, but the arms are far too wide. Overall the style is too bland and baggy. You can do far better! Do you like how it looks on you?

Yeah, it does. I don't know if I like it, I am not a suede jacket guy.

I think the seleves and body can be taken in by a tailor if you really like it. I've never done that with outerwear but there's no reason it hteoretically can't work.

How much would that run me?

Depends on the tailor, the jacket's construction, and how many alterations you get.

At my tailor, to get that jacket to work on me, it would easily cost $100+

Unless you love it, I would recommend just starting from scratch (ie, new jacket)

I do really like it because it belonged to my uncle, and he's gone and it's the only thing of his I have. So, I'll have it altered so I can justify keeping it.

I looked at the photo some more, and I think getting better denim will go a long way in making that jacket work Baracutas can be worn a little big, but those jeans - they need to be slimmer. Otherwise your overall profile is 'puffy' This is the proper way
