Maggiano's is good. Take out is decent, usually if you dine you end up getting take out for free, at least the promotion ran while i was there.

I don't particularly care for US Polo Assn either. However it is more of a genuine brand than Polo RL in that it is produced by the actual US Polo Assn, the governing body of the sport of Polo in the US.
I learned this from my uncle who is one of the governors of the sport in his region and is part of the Assn. He has a sick navy sport coat with their logo on it made just for governors that I wish you could buy in stores. frown.gif

Even better/worse is Beverly Hills Polo Club, an even more ghetto ripoff of PRL. They also have big pony-style polos, but I've only ever seen them at Ross/TJ Maxx and Sears.

I looked at the online catalog for one of those brands and the models were all obviously photoshopped onto country club-esque backgrounds, but I can't remember which of the two it was. They're pretty much the same, anyway.

It's called lifestyle brand...

If you buy RL products , you are living the country estate/romantic Preppy hair polo playing posh lady shagging somewhere in the mid-counties lifestyle...

The bigger the horse on your polo , the bigger prat you're...

My vote goes to Ovadia and Sons. It's mostly beautiful stuff but something about it just annoys the fuck out of me. Maybe it's because of the slavish devotion to all the SF dick-stiffeners (double monks, spread collars, etc.). And they're now selling OCBDs with paint splattered on them.

Jordache makes the apparel, not US Polo Assn. I believe it is contracted to them. I think US Polo Assn should contract it out to Polo Ralph Lauren since they do a much better job.

I have a love/hate thing with Hackett, because the clothes they make look great, but are somewhat flimsy. Is this a recent development? Why has OTR menswear gone completely to shit? Why can I buy a 1970s Sackville for Austin Reed 3 piece at a thrift shop and be really pleased with the weight of the material and durability of the construction, and walk into their modern UK stores to be met with acres of pickstitched, wafer thin, poorly held together suiting? Why are most items you would buy OTR seemingly made for fat fuckers? Why is all this stuff so expensive? Why do I have to now consider MTM/Bespoke TO GET A SIMPLE NAVY SUIT?

Got carried away.

I have always hated fashion houses for subcontracting their clothes and then pricing a huge premium for the design and label only. It's just Zegna, Corneliani or something else entirely with a label with some bloke's name on it. Most of all I despise everything designed by Thom Browne. He makes clowns of men and fills his pockets with an odd grin on his face.

Unless you're sewing your own clothes you're subcontracting it out.

Hackett is for posh kids who think they're God gifts to women..

Their polo with flag for the plebs, their suits for the hipster mid-counties kids..

...what about when the manufacturing firm (eg. Zegna) owns the mills and factories? I seem to have chosen the wrong wording in that prior post.
