IMHO danite is fine for everything but straight up ice.

I'm wondering if it's a mistake i got the commando sole..not that i had too much choice in the matter haha.

I like their commando sole. It's not as low key as Alden's, but it's not too loud either.

does anyone know if it's possible/how difficult it would be to get the sole replaced with a dainite sole?

The info@viberg.com email is completely bogged down from the sample sale currently. Custom inquiries are best sent to morgan@workboot.com for now. Once the sale is over and things have settled down you will be able to contact us at either.

I'm going to be strolling through Victoria in a few weeks and dropping by for a visit.  Anyone in particular I should ask for to assist me with a fitting and custom order?

Yes, being 60 and having experienced a lot of winters I can say that no sole works well on ice.

There is a shoe repair company in NYC (I forget their name right now) they carry Dainite and will do it for about $150. You have to send them in, takes 2-3 weeks - I had them do work in the past, they are good. Perhaps someone here remembers their name.

Don't et me wrong, I can walk fine on ice - have done it for years, but it was not because of the sole of the shoe. I have used both leather and rubber lug. Of course, I'm speaking of my experience and have not tried every possible sole, just the standard ones we were speaking about. I mean if you really want to be safe strap on cleats:
