800USD+...no way!
mine were 575USD shipped (ordered through ironheart forum and group order of 4 people!)...didn't infact the pricing though.
hikers are priced 200-300less than your standard service boot (unless you go the horsehide route on your hikers that is!)...

Still quite a premium, but more reasonable. Did you all have to order the exact same thing. Need to organize another hiker order. Seems like there is enough interest and maybe with 10 people or something could get it near $450 range?

But I'd agree, buying a domestically-made boot with all the necessary bells and whistles to get you through a messy winter at a fraction of the cost is definitely a "smarter" choice.

Ya and the Danner/Diemme aren't hideous either.

Oh I see thanks. Hopefully, there will be a choice of more than 1 or 2 colors.

The 68 currently available represents a sort of base cost on that model in regards to material choice. Versions to be released on viberg.com will likely use different leather, outsoles, hardware, etc. and the price will reflect that. Functionally speaking all of our boots are built with the same production methods, so if you're simply looking for a tough, comfortable hiking boot the 66 and 68 on workboot.com will more than suffice. I haven't talked about it on here before because for the most part the customer doesn't cross over, but we'll be relaunching workboot.com in a month or so with a completely new look and a much more accurate representation of available product.

The ones on workboot.com only come in one dull color. But, I see your point that they are really just a functional item. But, I think if we could get a wider selection of colors at that price point or similar would be nice. People on SF, including myself, are particular about options. A mid-price hiker between Danner and 'Premium' Vibergs would be nice.

It is latigo leather, robust tannage similar to chromexcel. It is cow hide with a smooth texture.

Can you let me know where you got those?  I would like a pair.  Did you go barrie size or down one full size?

4 guys need to be d'accord with the exact same make up...so yes, all of those 4 will get the exact same boot in the end!
the quantity of people doesn't set the price, it's just that viberg needs at least 4 of the exact same make up so that it's reasonable for them to do a run (please correct me if i'm wrong Guy or others!). so if there are 4 or 10 guys ordering the same thing...the price will remain the same!
if you want viberg, you also have to pay viberg...quality and exclusivity is what you want and what you have to pay for. pretty simple wink.gif

Does anybody have both viberg boots and LL bean Katahdin's? I'm thinking of ordering some viberg's, I'm currently wearing the Katahdin's...would appreciate a comparison on the fit if anybody has both! Thanks

There's plenty of Viberg lasts. Which one are you interested in? There's plenty of comparisons to Alden's lasts, so I'd recommend looking at how people compare those lasts to your Chippewa boots.

Good call...did some comparisonception and will go same size if they come out with something similar to the Cabourn collaboration service boot :bigstar:

I wonder if viberg resole their own shoe? Do you guys know roughly how much it cost and where can I send it to? I also heard one cannot resole viberg's stitched down welt as many times as Goodyear welt. Any opinions will be appreciated.

If you have the double row of stitching and want that reproduced on the resole, do not send them to any place other than Viberg. I sent my Boondockers to a highly regarded shop in Manhattan and was assured they could reproduce the double row. They botched it horribly. Pay the shipping and be willing to wait to have Viberg do it right.
