There's plenty of Viberg lasts. Which one are you interested in? There's plenty of comparisons to Alden's lasts, so I'd recommend looking at how people compare those lasts to your Chippewa boots.

I wonder if viberg resole their own shoe? Do you guys know roughly how much it cost and where can I send it to? I also heard one cannot resole viberg's stitched down welt as many times as Goodyear welt. Any opinions will be appreciated.

If you have the double row of stitching and want that reproduced on the resole, do not send them to any place other than Viberg. I sent my Boondockers to a highly regarded shop in Manhattan and was assured they could reproduce the double row. They botched it horribly. Pay the shipping and be willing to wait to have Viberg do it right.

B. Nelson/VIP Shoe Restorers?

I think he is trying to tactfully avoid naming names.

Nothing against Bnelson, but I don't think you can get original quality resoles unless you go back to the original factory. Even then, we have seen plenty of botched jobs.

I'd sell whatever Aldens I had to get a pair of Vibergs in brown shell, a la Johnny Rich ! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I suggest that you contact Guy Ferguson. You can find his info in this thread.

I have a pair of pre-Katahdin Chippewa engineer boots, which I think probably fit the same as the Katahdins (pic of them here with Oak Street and Vibergs).  The closest Viberg last is the 2045, which they call a "modified Munson last."  It has the same shape more or less. Fitwise, I found that last to be proportionally longer and slightly more narrow than the Chippewa Munson last.  A size 10 Chippewa fits me perfectly, with a bit of extra room for an insole; but the size 10 Viberg was longer and, with an insole, too tight in the vamp.  I've also worn the 310 and the 110 in Viberg.  Those are very different overall than the chippewa Munson.  The 310 feels a half size longer to me, but right on in width; the 110 is a bit wider in the vamp, and very wide in the heel.
