It's the footwear of equivalent of this jacket. Perhaps they didnt include enough zippers?

Heh. Yea I know what you guys mean. But usually i think of YSL boots or something - which, frankly, while not my thing, look a lot cooler than these weird frankenstein workbook-ish things with zippers. Maybe these boots reflect the crisis among many white middle class Americans: what is my identity and how can I belong? :P

Seriously though - I think the goat side zip boots posted on IG a while back have much more character and personality. Not really for hardcore boot guys but definitely nice looking. Black skinny jeans and undercut do's would match them well...

I really liked all the examples of the side zips they've put on IG, the goatskin in particular and I believe it would look pretty cool in camel.

What is/are "undercut do's"?

While I'm guilty of trying something similar (not so extreme), I must agree. These are sillyboy cuts. And no one really seems to remember that they originate with young WWII vets coming home and trying to re-integrate into the society of the early 50s. This was actually quite a statement when people did it back then, and it was taken to be a subversive act. Now, like so many mid-century cultural and social phenomena (i.e the whole work wear aesthetic), it has been watered down in its wide dissemination and lost much of its meaning. Oh well. Yay millennials!

The more I look at it the more I really hate the zipper/laces boot. It's like an insult to not only Viberg's integrity, but mine too! It cheapens my service boots :(

I am excited to have received my Black Latigo 2030s from Brooklyn clothing this evening. The leather is dressier than I realized, which is great because I have way too many work boots and pseudo-work boots. Also, ordered myself another pair of Viberg 90 Stallions in 10AA. These will be black rough-out, with natural edges, and Vibram 430 soles.

C'mon, one or two slightly different builds aren't going to wreck Viberg. There's a selection of more conventional Service Boots available from other vendors.

I don't like everything that Viberg do, but that's fine. I'd rather that they produce divisive builds from time-to-time, rather than playing safe. The fact that they experiment means that they've got a wider palette. Compare what they're doing to Wesco or White's for example.

Regardless, I think the shape and placement of the zipper on the Maple collaboration is unattractive, and generally speaking zippers and work boots don't get along well (obvs there can be some grey area between work boots and combat boots and it can get kind of subjective).

I’m usually the first one to make fun of Viberg’s “fashion” shoes (especially the endless stream of GYWed 2030), but I like the look of these Zippered Service Boots.

The zipper is a bit flashy (and I’m not fond of this kind of soles), but it should become more mate quickly with some wear.

Wonder what this makeup would look like with brass eyelets and zipper.

Slightly more traditional boot last with commando soles and waxed flesh make for a great rustic build. Really happy with these.
Same here! 10,5 C Brannock, and I wear 8.5 on all my Vibergs (2045, 110, and Hiker).
