Had been wanting a boondocker for awhile but never pulled the trigger so at US$417 felt it was the right time to get one. First 2045 so will see how it works out for me.

stitchdown model? that is a great pickup

Yep, seems to be the same makeup as the .com version.

Steve

I am going to second the comment by @rutabaga.

Hate speech like this doesn't belong in decent society. Had you directed your vitriol at a racial or religious group, I doubt anybody here would tolerate it. However, hatred of women and demeaning women seems to be acceptable here. This might be because misogyny is sadly still more acceptable than racism or religious bigotry, or it might be because this forum is nearly exclusively male.

I hope @LA Guy will share his views on what forms of hatred are and are not acceptable.

edited for user links.

1) A Chelsea or side-zip in a grain side leather

3) A more rugged boot, maybe a hiker, a country derby, something like that.  Think of a Viberg take on an English country boot.

I'd be into a casual derby and the rugged boot, on the fence with the Chelsea.

If the derby resembled the half Japanese that would be awesome, but I'm sure that might be difficult.

If the Chelsea was a side zip I'd pass, a little too fashion oriented for my tastes personally but I'm sure it would look very nice.

i would be up for a 2040 stitchdown derby with a captoe

2045/110 country derby in Ebony Latigo or along those lines would be awesome.

As would this

I'm not really looking at any workwear looking derbies, I don't think.  The model wasn't really made for that.  For me, it would be more like a more rugged version of what the "artisanal" brands do, or something a little more dressy.  We already did the half Japanese, and I'm not sure that it's time to replicate that or make something so similar, so close.

Not sure about the sidezip vs. the Chelsea.  I really like the story with zipped boots and their popularity, which apparently stems back to the need from the Japanese customers, who needed to remove footwear, often several times, upon entering a domicile.  I have both zip and elastic gore boots.  I feel that the zip boots are a bit more rugged and the zipper more easily replaced than the elastic gores, but I like the look of the elastic gores.  If it comes down to it, that might be a vote.

The third makeup, I dunno.  I like the idea of a rugged boot, but we have done a ton of those, what with the garage, the blue collar, etc... Maybe two cities boots might be in order?  Thoughts?

This is sorta cool.  I like the idea of an all black boot with a wedge sole.  Not sure that we have done anything similar in the past.

Cheers,

Fok.

I like the idea of a Roper style boot, but not sure if that's too similar to the Hopper or not.

Also don't know if it would get enough interest. The model for Meadow looked pretty cool.

Maybe a slightly lower stacked heel and a different unique leather.

that makes sense about the derby..not what i want at the moment but understand. I might be tempted by a sidezip or chelsea...as i have not paid attention much to those models...are they stitchdown? Being that the bad ass stitchdown chukka was cool a stitchdown chelsea woulb be funky...

I'm in for a side zip if that is on the table.

Bitching about bitching, and a side of sexism please. Can I get that to go?
On a side note. I agree with a lot of Aviv's observations, and understand Fok's reservations.

Chukkas have a history of being stitchdown - the Clark desert boot, for example, is a stitchdown boot.  Military boots and logger or firefighter boots are also often stitchdown.  That said, I'm not sure about a stitchdown chelsea or sidezip.  It might end up looking like a wierd hybrid.  I suppose that I do have one (the Epaulet one) that looks sorta cool, and ends up looking a bit like a cool roper boot, but the Viberg last looks less rounded, so I dunno.

The chelsea/ side zip style might be the only viberg I would be interested in GYW.
