If this offends you enough to stop buying a brand's products,, I would want to know if you apply that logic to other things you consume. I bet you spend money daily on things made by much more offensive companies than this.

For the record, it's definitely a lame Instagram post (filled with embarrassing typos). I'm sure it will be deleted soon enough. They should really float above this bullshit and just keep their heads down. Also, the fact Brett Viberg tried to play it off like it was just his personal opinion and is somehow detached from the company is bogus. After all, doesn't he take the credit for Viberg's current "fashion" status? You either are or are not the king of the mountain. Just own it. Why beat around the bush at this point?

The best thing that came out of this is a reddit post i saw calling him the "Kanye of wokrwear". Man is this backfiring bad for him

I did, I went with the same size as 110, 310 - I size up on the 2030 relative to the 110 and 310 due to forefoot width, space for my big toe to live.  These are the only hikers I have so I cant say for certain but the 240 is the most voluminous of all the pairs I have, most likely because it is meant to wear with thick hiking socks that said I wouldnt size down to make any adjustment and of course there is always variance from boot to boot.  I have not found a tremendous difference in the half sizes and some pairs I have are nearly the same length between makeups and half sizes.

Here's my take.
Now I have been given something else to take into consideration. It would have been much better if it wasn't in my face.
Consumers vote with their wallets daily. I don't argue with him being pissed, it's about how you handle it that counts.
If you read through this whole thread there is a lot of behavior from Viberg that makes a person wonder if one should support that behavior. Pulling the GMTO supposedly because some may be too picky, "let me check with the floor manager" regarding bad eyelet alignment, my name is Brett Viberg, but I don't represent the views of Viberg. Take each on their own and they mean nothing, put them all together and you get an entirely different view.

First of all you're referencing merely the last 30-40 pages of a 1000+ page thread. I'm not suggesting you go back and read it all, but your characterization of it is not so accurate.

Second of all- my original point still stands: the boots speak for themselves. Whiny Brett Viberg notwithstanding.

Edit: you also have no idea as to the full story behind whether or not GMTO will continue. From what has been suggested by Fok it has a lot to do with their production, time, etc. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's inherently wrong.

The product does speak for itself but people develop emotional ties to brands and products that defy logic, wisdom and value. Like waiting a x+ years and paying $10k for a handbag.  While you may be indifferent to his antics on instagram, Im certain not everyone who is a customer or potential customer has the same reaction.  It certainly doesn't deter me from buying more boots from Viberg but it doesnt exactly fire me up to support the brand either.  At best its indifference.

But it is some amazing advertising for Truman, there's no marketing campaign they could have designed better. lol

It seems the biggest thing is price point. If both companies were pricing in the same "tier", i wonder how different the backlash would be.

He deleted everything...

Take some freaking responsibility for your words. Don't bitch then runaway, and hope everyone forgets. Lame!

Brett Viberg has now deleted all of his Instragram posts, including the controversial one today. I know he has deleted a lot of posts in the past, so this isn't new for him. I hope that he is okay. It seems like he was "not in a good place" when he made the post.

Edit: I was composing this while ShootThePier posted his...so sorry for the repeat.

BV could bitch and carry on like Kanye and I'll still buy VB. Until they stop delivering quality and the look, I'm a customer. I don't avoid listening to Wilco because Jeff Tweedy is an asshole.

Exactly. Brett behaves like a bratty little sister. The guy doesn't take criticism or rejection well. And he punishes his customers (us) for so called bad behavior by basically cancelling the SF GMTO. It just doesn't make any sense. Anyway I still dig Viberg boots...

Meh. Someone a lot of people read said something mouthy on the internet. They're just human too, don't be too harsh just because he doesn't have a publicist censoring his post.

Now, for the company shipping out misplaced holes and off colors, that's legit quality control. For someone occasionally talking *ahem* caca?

of course, I could be doing the same, who knows.

Why does it seem like Brett Viberg is always pissy

I have met Brett a couple of times. Each time, he was very friendly and helpful. But I can see how some people might view him this way, unfortunately and unfairly.
