Be careful when using the term 10 _ _ _ _ _ _....the Great Eye is watching.....now that is out of the way...if you only care about the number of "that which shall not be named" then you will be waiting a long time from what I gather... you can get 7 or 8 ...also do you care about exposed or blind?

Check out grailed - you might find what you're looking for and a pretty solid deal.  There are quite a few completely pristine or brand new boots on there.

I keep on being tempted by the 2030, stitch-down Dusty Calf at Brooklyn Clothing Co.  I must say I like the look with the 9, as opposed to 7 or 8, things-that-shouldn't-be-named-esplicitly-apparently.  My only concern is that they don't have half-sizes...but, that said, I have long arches and often find the most comfortable boot is a half-size longer than predicted.  Plus, the 2030 is a fairly snug last, so it shouldn't be too loose width-wise.

I'm not sure exactly what color "Dusty Calf" is, but really don't care.  I have so many boots, it just doesn't matter where exactly is slots in.  I have to say I like calf generally...it looks nice and is hardier than some people give it credit.

And, of course, the price at Brooklyn Clothing Co. helps too...the fall in oil prices has definitely had some positives for non-Canadian Viberg fans.

re 10-eyelet 2030:

10 eyelets is a lot of ... eyelets. If you only put the boots on once a day, then sure, but for me, I'd have to undo the top 3-4 eyelets to get them on and off. There's a reason many boots have speedhooks after 4-5 eyelets. Just my .02.

Yep. I've said it once and I'll say it again. 10 eyelets is some Charles Dickens shit. You better have as many big words to match your victorian eyelets bro!

I dont notice the Dickensian aspect of the added eyelets, but its a funny thought. Realistically, you are wearing pants(I'll assume), nobody sees up your leg.

From my perspective I have always preferred all eyelets and I don't mind having to undo laces and do they them back up.  Speedhooks are certainly more convenient but I dont find it a hassle to spend the extra time on it.  To me speedhooks get caught on  my pant legs more often but truthfully I would not say no to a model I really wanted based on that.

But that is also why they have options because people have varying preferences.

So let me start with my comment is no reflection on the GMTO process that SF has with Viberg.

Brett has his quirks, and as a business owner, I respect his ability to do what he wants to do with his brand.

This is regardless of the 10,000 opinions out there.

Now to get down to my preferences... (which likely no one cares about, except me)

I like the 2030 last the best. No its not the 110 or 310 that some people tend to like.

I also really do like the 10 eyelets. I have multiple pairs with 10 eyelet and a pair with 8. I like the 10 better.

It has nothing to do with Dickens, and it is not wrong. Just like 7 eyelets isn't wrong. It is just the aesthetic I prefer.

It is comparable to saying a cap toe is better than a plain toe. There is no such thing as better.

If Brett wants to get bent about people being passionate about his products, that's up to him.

I, for one, think that he is actually indifferent to most of us.

Heh yea i'm mostly kidding. But those 10-eyelet black cxl service boots on cultizm really look more like a costume piece than a contemporary boot. To each his own of course - just rock the LV C 1890 cinch-back jeans and you're in business.

My pit tanned bison boots have 8 - and that is pretty much as many as I can take. It really does get annoying taking them on and off - though I agree that speed hooks can chew up your pants, especially denim.

Hahaha, I was picking up on that.

I just wanted to provide another point of view, I have a very high arch and I have to loosen the laces quite a bit, I just dont really mind.  but as Bkotsko said its just aesthetic preference.  If the basics of what I am looking for are met, Im pretty happy and dont sweat the extreme details.  Now if it were bespoke, I would be more apt to get a bit more focused on details.

Yea I hear you on bespoke. I was one of the ones "bickering" about eyelets recently. It was purely an aesthetic thing - I just really love pictures I've seen of an older version of Viberg's 5 eyelet 1950s boot. As we have learned these are out of the question moving forward. One can always lust in the meantime...
