I'm no expert, but I have both Alden and Viberg boots and the Vibergs seem to be of higher quality. The materials are really nice and the construction looks top notch to me. The Vibergs are also much more substantial boots and can handle heavy wear and still look great.

For the service boot, it will start around $550 plus shipping.

We place custom orders for our customers all the time- it's very flexible and as long as they have the leathers and soles, any kind of make up can be ordered.

I've called Viberg the last two days and the woman who's helped me is super cool. She said they don't have a custom option you'd like on the page that lets you customize your boots (for instance there's no option to add the perf toe cap like on that harness leather boot) just put a message with all your specs in with the order and they'll contact you if there's a problem.

And yeah, that brown harness leather is the jam, but they told me they're having trouble sourcing it at the moment so it's not available.

What I want to know is if anyone has seen a boot with a 'partially structured' toe. Apparently they do a toe box where the sides have some structure to them, i imagine with plastic or something similar, but the top of the toe is just leather. Anyone notice any on the blog?

Can't wait to move back to the west coast and give viberg a visit. I'm in the market for a good pair of lasting boots these days. Anybody have an idea of how long a custom order takes?

Best to check with them to make sure, but I believe it's around 4 months right now.

Dear Viberg fans'

Two of my very good friends running, the recently launched, menswear blog The milltown have met Brett Viberg few weeks ago in York (yorkshire, UK) for an interview.

http://www.themilltown.com/

In fact, Brett Viberg was on a trip to yorkshire to visit Nigel Cabourn and Lewis Hull from superdenim.

He announces, few big things to come in the interview, notably a new Viberg x Cabourn boot coming out this Autumn/Winter (based around the boots worn on Robert Scott’s last expedition) and also more surpinsingly a Viberg clothing line for SS13.

You can read the post transcribing the full-chat here:
http://www.themilltown.com/chat-with-brett-viberg/

You can follow them on twitter, here:

They will be happy to get in touch so do not hesitate to give them some feedbacks.

Regards,

Manu

Why not link to the ad, instead of making people ask questions.

I have ordered a pair of 1950 Service boots. I was curious about sizing as many people have seemed to be.

I wear a US10/UK9 in Doc Martens and those fit very tight.

Will a US10/UK9 in 1950's fit larger or similar to the Doc Martens?

^Depending on the last (I'm only really familiar with the 2030), I believe you typically go for your UK shoe size. I typically take a 10 US, and my service boots and oxfords are both size 9.
