Scored these incredible Viberg x Freemans Sporting Club service boots recently. I think I finally found the perfect boot..
I have these, the christy sole has worn out and it's been only 4 months. Great boot otherwise

4 months? How often did you wear it? It should be more durable than the typical leather sole.

No, those Christy soles definitely wear fast. I had a similar sole on a pair of Caterpiller boots years ago, and the heel wore out almost right away it seemed. They are comfortable though...

Yeah... I'm going about 4 months now, 2x per week w/ ~2 miles daily walking on some OSB Trail Oxfords w/ this sole and am seeing only minor wear. I've heard accounts of people going 3-4 years with pretty regular wear.

No offense to the fans of this sole - but it seems to be a bit out of place on a $600+ boot. I like it on all the Maine cxl moc type shoes as they seem developed around that specfic look, but otherwise I would only go for it for durability and not aethetics, and to that end I feel the Dainite is superior.

It's a completely different aesthetic, and the Christy soles weren't developed for made-in-Maine heritage boots; they're a legitimate work boot sole and have a history in that. If anything, they're more appropriate on these Vibergs, though again, it's a completely different aesthetic niche from that of Dainite.

Christie boot soles are specifically for roofing, hence the tread on a completely flat surface. Perfect for getting a grip on a mostly flat surface. Not really meant for hiking or long distance walking.

That said, everyone's definition of "worn out" is different. Christie soles will very quickly develop a very rounded edge on both the toe and the heel. For me that's not worn out, that's finally broken in. They aren't worn out until the heel has worn out all the way down to midsole. For others, as soon as the sole is completely rounded, the sole is, in their mind, finished and they want it resoled. Nothing wrong with that, but it will make your life expectancy a lot shorter.

Here's a pic from yesterday, my natty shells in the wet grass. **** yeah. I'm also gonna throw my imgur album that I'll be updating over time in my signature, for future reference.

Looks like they restocked the 2030 brown CXL service boots on the Viberg site.
