I hate carrying cash unless I have to, probably because I hate change more than poison.

fuck all you motherfuckers, i never carry cash, i dont understand why youd talk shit if i dont have cash for a $1.00 purchase, if whoever is selling the crap doesnt want it then they can suck a dick, theyre either making a profit or not making a profit.

I don't understand the hostility towards card users. I carry both but will always use plastic when given the opportunity, except at mom&pop places for small purchases. I couldn't care less if starbucks has to pay a transaction fee on my $4 coffee.

Emergency cash in the wallet for places that don't accept credit. Cash back + online tracking = win for credit cards. It's just easier to swipe than it is to count change, deal with storing loose change, then going online and manually adding in my transaction to log it. Then, every few months, take the change to a coinstar machine to convert it to an Amazon gift card. UUUUUUuuuuugh.

Yes, it is legal to reject cash payment.

From The US Treasury
...This statute means that all United States money as identified above are a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor. There is, however, no Federal statute mandating that a private business, a person or an organization must accept currency or coins as for payment for goods and/or services...

Only people that HAVE to accept cash are gov't offices and OPEC members IIRC

Q: A merchant required me to make a minimum purchase when I used my MasterCard card

A: A merchant is not permitted to require a MasterCard cardholder to pay a minimum amount in connection with a MasterCard card transaction.

If you believe that a merchant inappropriately has requested a minimum charge or you would like to report an inappropriate charge you may report this by clicking the following URL and completing a brief online form

I would be surprised if they do anything about such complaints.

As stated earlier in this exact thread...they do.

They take violations of their processing agreements pretty seriously I would think.

You might be able to get away with using a CC only in major metropolitan areas in a developed area but that's about as far as it goes.

Don't be ridiculous. I still keep some bills in the wallet as backup. I just don't want to pay with them due to (1) rewards, (2) dealing with change, and (3) having to constantly withdraw cash.

While we are on the subject how many people have their identity stolen when using cash? I'll give you a hint, zero, none, nadda. What's the fastest way to find yourself living a new lifestyle you aren't aware of? Yep that's right, indiscriminate and constant use of a CC/debit card.

You can also lose tons of cash with no way to get it back. Also, I'm not an irresponsible idiot. You can say the same for people who take cash to a casino.

So what were you saying about the benefits of using a CC/debit card as your only payment vehicle again?

I bet even the people who are hardcore card users have some cash on them. We just prefer to use our credit cards for whatever purposes you don't seem to understand.
