Update:

Bought some cheap low-rise straight leg khakis from old navy for $25, and brought them to studio kim yesterday. I asked her to slim them down and shorten them a bit. Total cost of the operation was $32. She said they'd be done by next Wednesday.
Very friendly service, and she really seemed to know her stuff. Will post updates when I get the pants.

How are they?

Got them yesterday. Fit is terrific! Just how I wanted them.

What are peoples experiences with hemming nudies? Do you guys prefer to get them chainsitched or just get a regular hem? I got a pair of SJDJ and wondered if it is possible to get them hemmed while keeping the original orange stitching? .... Now that I think about it, would a euro hem work?

For Denim I use either the in-house taylor at TNT blu or Holt's, for anything else I use Kim. TNT blu does great work at hemming jeans while keeping the original hem from the jeans untouched, they take them in just prior to the original hem stitching so the jeans look unaltered and sweeet.

How does that work?

I don't get the whole appeal of chain-stitching. Maybe if they're Samurai's or something but for my Nudies I just did a normal hem and they matched it with an thick orange thread that was pretty close to the original. Personally I don't like the Euro-hem or even the idea of it. it's like cutting off and then reattaching part of the pants, just seems weird to me.

Anybody know how much Studio Kim charges for shortening shirts?

I dropped a jacket off on Saturday afternoon and she quoted tomorrow for it to be ready. She's bumped it up a day or two for me in the past if I've been in a legitimate rush.

I'm looking for a reputable place to have my imps hemmed. I tried sydney's but they aren't taking any new orders. Does anyone know of any other places that will do chain stitching?

I can speak from experience that even if you did take your stuff to Sydney's to be altered, he would just farm it out to another alterationist / tailor. I believe he sends most of his stuff to Studio Kim's which is just a few blocks south and east of where his shop is located.

I also have experience dealing with Kim; she is great and will do whatever it takes to make her customers happy.

I'd recommend either Studio Kim or Sydney's. Both have done a great job on all my denim/alterations.

Just wondering but does Studio Kim do chain stitching?
