Want a new style

Hello everyone - First post here.

I'm hoping that you guys can help me improve my style to really help me stand out for the right reasons. At the minute I wouldn't say I was unfashionable, but I don't feel like I get female attention as much as I could. I'm from the UK and currently wear Lyle and Scot, River Island and Topman (Like most people on the high street) What I want is to have a similar style but different brands and different enough to make me look more put together than most others (Nothing to drastic)

I'm only a student so my budget is limited - but I currently have around £1000 as a starting point.

Here's some stats:

Age: 18
Weight: 140lb
Height: 5 ft 9

I like Jeans, leather jackets, casual jackets - basicly I'm just after recomendations for a solid starting point for my new wardrobe.

Thanks.

I'll have a quick look for what look I hope to achieve - but I was also hoping you guys could advise some styles that I might like. I'll edit this post when I find some.

dude, we don't know who you are at all, and if you already knew what you wanted to wear why would you need to ask this question?

Band of Outsiders and APC come to mind from your description.

Just looking for advice - didnt think there was any harm in asking

Right I have a few pictures that kind of show the style I want - I'll also give a few more details

Would like a leather like this:

And boots like the ones Phil Lynott (On the right) has on. Slim and pointy with a heel:

I play in a band and love the way that Phil Lynott, Keith Richards (Back in the day) and just old rockstars in general dress - but in 2011 I just don't think that dress is liked by women. So I'm hoping to copy certain things (Slim/straight jeans, Leather jacket, Jewelry) but still look modern and cool instead of someone out of a time machine. Also I don't want to look like a "Metal" fan - as I'm not.

If more information is still needed please ask specific questions - I'm struggling to describe what I want. And I guess the main question is do you think a modern day rockstar look will look cool or desperate

If you're main aim is to attract the girls clothes probably aren't the most important thing to concentrate on. Your personality is what will attract them, which may be partally expressed through your clothes, but what you say and do are more important.

If you're wanting to improve your wardrobe buy things you like.

As you're in the UK why not look at some of the UK brands. I particularly like Universal Works, Heritage Research, Barbour and Albam, but they might be too old for you. How about looking at Garbstore, YMC or Pretty Green? Alternatively how about Uniqlo? Better quality than Topman & River Island yet similarly priced, and their web site has suggestions for putting things together. Buy a few copies of GQ/Esquire and see what catches your eye.

Thanks ManofKent - never heard of any of the brands/shops you listed! Do you know of any others?

can we have a pinned thread that contains links to other threads with the same topic as this thread?
