Also, it is a childrens series that often kills off an important character or two...this is probably because it is english and not american but I remember that being a new thing when I started with the books.

The fucking food! Who could forget that shit!

I hated and loved the moles' accent.

Badgers were badass with the bloodlust in their eyes.

"Long Patrol" and "Mossflower" were the best.

I used to read the books to my little cousins, and I absolutely hated the accents. I realized I could read them in my head easily enough, but were impossible to say out loud.

I always thought it was some Irish/Scottish hybrid.

FUCKING A!!! I was JUST about to post the same thing!!! Dude would always make me hungry talking about the shit those little rodents would cook up.

I might just have to go back and read a book or two again...I wonder if they've held up over time.

Also, +1 to the accents...frustrating to get through at first.

I liked Long Patrol...the hares with their big ass bows/arrows were the shit. Plus, weren't they known for always eating and being hungry? My kinda guys.

I don't remember enough of the books to say which was the best, but off the top of my head...

-Redwall...OG gangster Martin the Warrior
-Mattimeo
-Mariel of Redwall
-Salamandastron...badgers FTW

The bookstore next to where I work is going out of business, 50% off everything. Hopefully one of the Redwall books are there.

The Long Patrol, Salamandastron, Marlfox, The Pearls of Lutra, and the Taggerung are all up there in my favorites. I think I may still own all of them published up till I hit 4th grade.

Mossflower was my favorite. I like the origin stories behind swords.

I was thinking about all that Redwall food today at work, then I read the Jaques profile on NYT on my lunchbreak, and found out about this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Redwall-Cookbo.../dp/0399237917

I don't wanna get my hopes up, but if I break down and buy this children's cookbook, I'll have to post back here with my results.
