speaking of, what a coat! ! Still quite pricey but they are offering 25% the marked price apparently - size 42/ 52European

I bought the shorter, peacoat version of that in cashmere from Pauw Mannen. They're really nice, although I wish the lapels rolled down lower.

They fit very slim.

Low BIN on a Kilgour bespoke suit with oddly-wide shoulders but otherwise pretty close to a 38R:

Hey guys I have a question regarding buying suits online and sizing.

My sizing measurements are based off a MTM suit I had made in Vietnam that I wear pretty often

chest 20

waist 19.75

shoulder 18.5

length boc 27.5

sleeve 23

I found something I really like with these measurements

chest 21.5

shoulders 17.75

sleeves 25.5

boc 29.5

i'm just wondering how close to my actual measurements should I be aiming for?

What concerns me with the suit I found is the shoulder and chest difference. I understand length and sleeves can be adjusted, but from what I understand shoulders can be expensive so how close should I try to get with that and the chest?

It sounds like you are a 38 short but with bigger than normal shoulders. Your shoulders are more like a 40 so you perhaps need to size up in off the rack jackets I imagine.

The suit you have seen is a long way off in terms of measurements, including the overall length as well as the chest and shoulders:D. I would not normally go more than an inch away from my preferred measurements, and ideally no more than half an inch. The suit you have seen sounds like a 40 regular but with narrower than normal shoulders. Might be good for me actually if you're willing to

Yes - that online suit will need to be altered in pretty much every dimension, which will basically be uneconomical and likely unsuccessful however much you wish otherwise.

^ Oh weird. I was at a store the other day and 38 was way too tight for me. 40 seemed to be the minimum. I don't know if I'm taking the wrong measurements or if the seller is on his end. I'm 5'10 and 180 pounds and the last time a 38 fit me was when i was 16 years old.

Thanks for the advice!

Here is the suit, the Zegna. I decided to buy it and if it doesn't fit to return it at my expense since it was too good of a deal for me to pass up. I found a new one selling for 1200 so at this price its a steal.

If I do end up returning it, Ill send you a PM

Merry Christmas SF
