That's rare... but even rarer would be guanaco shoes!

I wasn't criticizing your posting it or anything, just pointing out that it's rather overpriced...

Ok, sorry. It's just that the opening bid was only $326, so if someone is willing to pay $1400 or more, then that's what it's worth.

Black Corneliani 38R, $79 BIN

Seller rates it 9/10, 10 being brand new.

I would have bought it if the pants were flat front / single pleated.

What is the opinion of the quality of the cloth? I need a second suit for interviews and such and if I can buy it and have it altered to fit for under $200, it would be very nice.

Could it be tailored for a better fit without too much hassle or expense?

The measurements he gives are the same as on my (only) Gucci suit I have now, so I would think it should fit ok. But I'm a little skeptical about buying a $100 suit of ebay.

You said its probably boxy, what if I want to make it a little slimmer? Would that be an issue? Do you think its a quality item in terms of materials and construction?

Yup. Lapels, button stance, (lack of) vents, pleats... make it look quite dated. I'd say it's more than 10 yrs old, maybe 15+.

It's a quality suit but the shoulders measure 18.75 for a 38R, which is about 1/2 inch more than what a current 38R Corneliani would measure. You can't make it slimmer.
