Dude, I just realized it was you that wrote the good overview earlier on in this thread. I basically repeated everything you said now that I read it back. (I assume this is why you're snorting on your water? Sorry, I don't intend to drown anybody.) But yeah, clearly you know what you're talking about, and inevitably, how to take a good photo, so please don't take my reply as a response to you but rather for Rambo and other rookies. Thanks for the prompt I guess; I did leave that end a bit un-tied.

Happy to help. I guess I ignored the RGB histogram query. I suppose I subconsciously ignored it because I don't really care to pay much attention to RGB stuff. I mean, I'm no pro, but I do shoot RAW, and if my colors are that far off I'll adjust in Lightroom. I mean, a RGB histo is just a more specific (i.e. split-up) histo, is it not? Let's put it this way, if a standard histo is skewed I can do something about it quickly with a spin of the dial, but if the RGB histo is off I'm not convinced I can make any changes (on-board) in a timely manner, if at all.

This is a good explanation of RGB histograms with example pictures:

Basically, a white histogram is an average of RGB, and may not indicate an over- or underexposure that occurs in only 1 color channel.

Rockwell is kind of an obnoxious loudmouth, but someone new to photography could do far worse than reading his site for good basic photographic technique.

Agreed. Here's a tip: Never watch a Rockwell video - your opinion of the man will plummet.
