I got a book called How to detect lies.

Any clues on that?

Also how to manipulate and avoid being manipulated.

Pat on the back to whoever identifies the quote.

Just assume every one you meet is lying. They probably are, and that way you won't be disappointed.

There was some sort of study done that found introverted people to be better at detecting fake smiles.

Some people study very small "micro-espressions" that might give people away. Other's just know instinctively.

Another comparison would be PUAs Vs. natural ladies men.

I read this book in high school and it has proven to be of not much use. http://www.amazon.com/Never-Lied-Aga.../dp/0312186347 but read with a grain of skepticism. This guy makes money from making up bullshit titles and fill the content to a book.

if you need to read a book about how to do this stuff, you're doing it wrong.

just talk to people. within a few month's you'll know intuitively whether they're lying or not. reading body language is key, as well as analyzing motives

That's for sure, but I like to learn things from those books.

its cool that you're reading to improve you knowledge. just wanted to impart that empirical and practical experience heavily outweigh what you learn from books. they're a place to start from, i suppose.

So everyone who has engaged in conversation regularly over a period of several months can intuitively detect lies? I wonder why people bother with polygraph machines or even trials if there are so many all knowing truth truth arbiters out there?
