A while back I was in this boat - wanted a nice watch but still have a psychological hurdle to clear in terms of how much to spend on a daily wear item and the lack of demand in my life for getting properly dressed up. Settled on this from Zappos, which despite obvious flaws I still quite like nearly a year on. About $225.

I disavow all knowledge of this man.

unfortunately kinda $$$. the non chrono is in the 1k region. dunno bout this one. but i've been thinking about more playful brands lately. if you're buying a less expensive watch than the serious rolex/ omegas/ pah tek i was thinking might as well buy something fun looking and casual. just a random thought. this one is very blue..

For those of you looking for an EXTREMELY poor mans watch with the green military strap mentioned earlier: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/militar...-sr626sw-80347 (FYI, this site ships stuff fairly sporadically. I've always received my order but sometimes it takes a few months.) tan: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/militar...-sr626sw-80345 black: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/militar...-sr626sw-80346

Some great watches and ideas in this thread. Plus they fit in my tight budget. Some of those Skagens are sweet.

Have had the exact watch for close to a year. Great watch, wears well & gets lots of comments (for a $70.00 watch-Amazon).
