Poor man's watch thread - Page 210

I have this watch. It's one of my favorites. The green dial is really spectacular. I replaced the stock band with a shell cordovan band.

(Too much glare in the photo, but a great looking watch regardless)
I love these Helson's. I think these are probably at the very upper limits of what should be considered a poor man's watch (unless you get a great deal on one). Every time I check them out, I am very impressed with the specs for cost and they seem to have some of the best lum.

@Kai: band looks really, really nice. I'm a bit torn on Seiko in general though - great movements and quality, but the designs... Don't get me wrong, I have a Seiko 5 that I have worn more than any other watch in my life but somehow the dial designs are always a bit off. Leagues behind the quality of the hardware at least.

The strap really makes that watch. Where did you buy it?

For you Seiko 5 folks....how long is your power reserve? I only get about 10-12 hours of reserve when the watch sits.

Much longer, in mine is the 7S36, I have about... 30, 40 hours?

It might be this one, but I'm not entirely sure: http://www.watch-band-center.com/watchstrap-p2521h346s348-Watch-band-Cordovan-.html

(This one was in my internet favorites page, but I can't remember if this is the one I actually bought.)

I will check the band tonight and see if there is a makers mark on it.

Mine is also much longer. At least a full day.

I really love the design of that Seiko, but I'm not sure about the green dial. I think I need to see it in action, but if it was black, white, or even blue I'd be all over it in a heart beat.

In the meantime, really digging the Seiko 5 SNZH55. Any thoughts?

Trust me. The green dial is beautiful. Pictures don't do it justice.

As for the diver you posted, I prefer the Black Monster. To me, it has a bit more "character."

I thought it might be Fluco or CWS. I have been a bit suspicious of Fluco since they are priced pretty low for cordovan. CWS is almost double the price but they look really nice. I thought it might be them.

No marks on the strap to identify the maker, but I'm 90% sure it's the Fluco. (Never heard of CWS) (Also, it has the Horween stamp like the Fluco picture.)

Curious, what do you think of it? I was also looking at Fluco - they look nice and reasonably priced compared to most cordovan straps I've seen.
