The most heinous crime of a cheap watch is a fake chronograph with hands glued on. That is just a major no-no. Take a look at other chinese brands like Parnis or Seagull. They have a few pretty similar ones that are automatic.

I have a classmate wearing the exact same one from Fossil. Looks cheap and the font printing are quite ugly to me in real life.

You could try this one by Seagull. I'm waiting for my Rodina from there.

I was into Fossils when I first got a job, they're OK beater watches, but they are fashion watches. I was into them for several years and actually just recently unearthed them to see if the straps would fit my Seikos and 4 of them do. One of them I'm actually going to get a new battery for and maybe wear a little, but the local Radio Shack failed to have the proper battery so so far it's a no-go.

Srsly

It should be obvious why a fake chrono is a very bad thing.

I received this watch and was wondering if I could get some opinions on a strap.  I'm not a fan of the silver bracelet, and it was damaged anyway, so it needs to be replaced.  I've never had a 'dressier' watch, I'm more of a colorful Seiko 5 with a nato strap kind of guy, so I'd just like some opinions on something that would look nice with a suit.  It's a plain black face, 37mm case and 20mm strap.

Are you looking for brands or colours? Black, dark brown and oxblood would all work very well with a black dial. I prefer contrast stitching but it is more sporty.

Not really looking for anything specific, just looking for something fitting. I really like that first strap you posted. I tend to stick to black shoes and belt when I wear a suit, would I be better off matching it?
I try to match when possible but it doesn't bother me if I wear a watch with a black strap but have a brown belt and shoes. Oxblood goes well with both IMO but you can use any of those three.

That Seagull looks great.

I found this in a box of junk. Bulova, 14k gold filled,1944,... I planned to keep it, but I decided it is not for me.
I got a couple questions.
How much do these go for? eBay has many broken ones selling for $60+. The few working ones sell from $100-$800, but there looks to be no pattern like you find in the used shoes market. What is going on?
I want one just like this but in a silver tone and without fixed lugs. Was anything like that ever produced?

That thing looks sweet. I'd make you an offer if I didn't have an Elgin in a similar style.

What do you guys think of this : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005MKGQMY/ref=mw_dp_img?is=l

It's a citizen Eco drive

On sale now. Thoughts?

The band is a bit industrial-looking for my taste, but if you like it I say go for it. Silver on blue is nice, and Eco drives are probably the most reliable watches at their price point.

The bracelet ruins it and its impossible to put a strap on it.

Agreed. I did not buy.
