Still looking for a leather strap, but I've been wearing it on this (what most probably consider somewhat inappropriate) Bond strap:

What kind of watch is that? Where can I get one?

Seiko 5 SNXS75 series, mine has a dark bronze dial. Came with a meh bracelet, the brown croc printed calf strap I had laying around. 75 bux from Amazon.

Someone earlier in the thread was hacking on anyone who wore one of these saying it was ridiculously big- I just got this in a 42mm and I have the world's most dainty male wrist, maybe 6.5-7 inches, and I think it looks great. Like the watch, but fyi had to epoxy the pin that holds the lever over the winding stem- it fell out and luckily I found it to make it permanent...

Hard to find the black dial online. Been searching for a bit. If you happen to come across a link, please do share.

Even by 'dark bronze' I think he meant black. Or at least, it's supposed to be black. But when you shine light on it, yea I guess it sort of does have a gunmetalish/brownish tone to it. I found mine on eBay from a Singapore dealer, three days too my door.

Thanks. No luck on ebay either. Will keep hunting. If you see it somewhere, lemme know.

Try searching ebay for just the SNX series, minus that specific model code, there are several watches that match the appearance of this one (including a dark navy dial). Theres also another watch with a different model number entirely.

Bingo. Thanks.

I like this seiko and the Tissot Desire; however, they both look very similar. I am debating if I should spring for two watches that look so alike. Perhaps a white dial w/ the Tissot and darker one with Seiko...thoughts?

BTW, to be a PMWT the criteria is less than 1K or $500?

The Tissot is a quartz, which makes it a no-go for me.

I personally consider 1000 dollars to be expensive, but its definitely not "luxury" territory.

I've been thinking it might be a good idea to put together a hierarchical list of "good" watches at the 3 figure and below price point similar to the hierarchical suit thread. The question is what criteria should be used? I'm not sure that quartz or non-in-house movements should be ruled out, for instance, but I do think classic style in line with CBD and good build quality need to be in the criteria. I'll post more later when I'm not drunk.

There's no real criteria. There's always some douchebag who is so cool that he considers a $5k watch a 'poormans' because to him it's cheap.

Personally, anything getting up and over $300 is really pricey to me and north of $500 is dreamland. I could never justify that much for one watch on the money I make. Somehow though I can force myself to own 10 $100-200 watches =)
