Wait how? I'm in Australia, why is Amazon shipping so bloody expensive to here.

Depending on the item I sometimes ship to a friend in the US who on-sends to me.

The watch + band via Amazon delivered to Australia was something like $110 for me.

Ah okay. How long did it take?

I'll be grabbing my strap from Nato Strap Co, $12.50 delivered.

Just ordered it today so will let you know how long it takes to deliver. Strap is coming from Clockwork Synergy, LLC.

Damn, we could have split shipping.

Do let me know next time you order and I'll likely be keen. May have similar tastes based on this watch. At the casual end I like interesting face and band combinations.

My more "expensive" watches are Tag and the next purchase I am saving for is a pre-owned Breitling Top Time (preferably two-tone).

Holy shit- no cheap crap here, I am cautiously impressed- any with firsthand knowledge on these? From across the pond...

Okay, I had to do it- ordered this- had a nice surprise, it's only $112 not $160, they had some tweaks on the listing. I think this is clean, elegant, and with the tan leather a perfect jeans watch. Could get a spare strap and dress it up if needed, but I have enough dress watches with black leather already. This is the 42mm so it's not a gawdawful honkin big clock hanging on my petite 6.5" wrist...

I will post up when I get it and give my impressions of it if anyone is interested- I am in Africa and having it shipped to my home in US so won't get it until the second week of May- shipping here is problematical, government monopoly, no FedEx/UPS/DHL etc- and you all know how things run under government control, especially one influenced by the French system of "anything you can make a procedure for we can **** it up and make it even more ridiculously complicated and unwieldy" if any of you have had to deal with that... my apologies in advance to any Francophiles but I dare you to refute it!!

I am open to suggestions for other models and/or strap combinations that lend themselves to a suit and tie look, just think it's a more rugged looking piece with more "presence" than most so I'm having a hard time thinking of it as a dress watch... anybody else, or is it just me??

Sea-Gull D304. Good luck finding one.

Is this a newer one?

They have made it for years, now they have black and grey and other color metals...

Here is my actual beater... daily wear for minimum 3-4 years, then started liking variety...

I'm looking for a new watch that I could wear just for going to the grocery, park, beach, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I actually own several Stuhrling watches, they keep good time and look very good and you can't beat the price. Amazon.com alone has hundreds of models...

You can see the stainless Rolex homage above, just a classic good-looking watch for everyday wear.

Although not sure if either of these belong to poor man's watch category.

Exellent watches & great value. Prices of the Swiss ETA movements have risen considerably, so he may be using Japanese movements in some models now, but they are all good. You could also consider Kemmner.
