If you're looking at spending around 5x as much, you might be able to find one of these (ordered one a couple days ago)

Ah, the SNKE51. Very nice. That seems to be a blue version of the SNKE49. Can you confirm that it's 20mm? According to my links on that spreadsheet, everyone but Amazon agrees it has 20mm lugs.

Man I feel like I need a $100 or less thread, though I guess it's 99% Seiko 5s in that range. Some beautiful watches guys!

My new Marvin M120. Loving it.

I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago and I picked up a cheap beater watch from Shanghai Tang in HK, smallish vintage style with day/date, black face and Chinese characters on the face. Was only a couple of hundred dollars and I really like it. Think vintage Longines meets Asian kitsch, I have ties that cost more.

Anyone know what model Seiko this is? It is striking.

I want to ask my girlfriend for some type of vintage miltary watch.. something for small wrists. Should i just have her stop at J crew get an olive wristband then go to target and pick up a timex?

Timex certainly has some cheap military styles, and some come with olive wristbands already: https://www.google.com/search?q=timex+military

Keep in mind you can get same or better quality bands from places other than J.Crew.

Maybe a Vostok military watch?  Zenitar on ebay has some good ones (http://stores.ebay.com/zenitar-store).

It won't be here by Christmas probably, though, since it comes from Russia.

I was at JCrew today and tried on the $175 Timex blue dive watch. It's very nice and fits my thin wrist well but I'm sure there are better deals out there for similar watches. Thoughts? For automatics I'm thinking maybe the Orient Blue Mako or the Ray since they get great reviews.

JCrew didn't have any of the military watches in my store.

^ Thanks for the replies everyone. My girlfriend was at J crew today.. I THINK she ordered me the military watch in olive, 30% off everything in store which seems like a good deal.

Seiko SNK805 is awesome.

I have the 809, which is black. Accurate mech movement, reasonable size, display back.

Does anyone know what these 'stains' are on one of the components in my watch? I'm painfully unaware of all the names of the pieces, but we're looking at the small gear next to the rotor. You can see some very thin striations. The color is hard to make out from pictures, but they're a dark blue.

Is this normal?

This is a great looking watch!

Picked up this up a few weeks ago while in a "why not" moment. So far all is good!
