EXACTLY!!! There is an appropriate thread for those pricey timepieces. If we could post choices in the $200 or less category, that would seem to for more in line with the original intent.

Along those lines, here's a nice $50 watch. Cheap, accurate, durable and decent looking timepiece if I do say so myself. It's a great deal if you like automatic movements as much as I do.

Wow there's a lot of hate for $500+ watches. TBH if I posted a $500 watch in the watch porn thread it would get the same reaction. We need a middle income watch thread.

$500 - $1000 doesn't even get you out of ETA territory.

Naw, no hate here my friend! It's just that if the idea is to give guys some good choices in affordable, inexpensive watches, why would someone come on here and post a $700 watch?

It's like some OP starting a thread and asking about inexpensive suits. Would you post a picture of a $2,500 suit as a recommendation? There are PLENTY of suitable choices for this fellow in the $300 - $500 range so there would be no need to recommend suits so clearly out of what would be commonly perceived as inexpensive.

I think the same idea holds true for this thread. If I want to look at pics of watches I can't afford, I go to the watch porn thread.

And in case you didn't already know, most guys rockin' "poor man's watches" are perfectly happy with their ETA movements....LOL

To your point about the the 250k min. income, why would such an individual ever visit the "poor mans watch thread"....hmmmm????

I haven't visit this thread in awhile. But lately I've been bitten by the Japanese watch bug. I really dig those old Seikos.

I'm having a really really hard time finding this watch. I'm trying to get a NOS, but the one I see for sale, either the chronograph is not working, or just in crappy condition.

Not mine but this can be had for significantly less than 200.
Looks a lot like the Seiko Spirits/SARBs to me (not surprising since Orient is owned by Seiko).

I sold my Seiko Spirit about a year ago (totally regret it.) I just pull the trigger on this watch. I really like the domed crystal vintage style. I really wish you can hack the movement, but for around $170ish, I can't complain. I'll post some pics when I get it next week.

well. you can kind of poor man hack the movement. if you turn the crown backwards ever so lightly the second hand will stop, without the minute hand moving. repeat till synced. at least it works on my 7s26 movements.

I’d appreciate if you guys could please give me suggestions on my first casual (shirts, jeans, chinos) everyday watch.  One of the main features is I want a gold; bronze or rose-gold plate case with a white face. I’ll mostly wear it with brown leather strap and olive nato strap. Any help?

If he has to have "gold, bronze or rose-gold" for the face the SARB072 is a good option, but this is a much better choice overall:
