I'm a college student and would like to keep this under $100.

I never thought I would ever wear a watch again, but this summer I will not be able to have a phone due to my internship and watches do look pretty sweet too.

So I know nothing about watches.  My last watch was a tiny blue digital timex with velcro back in 7th grade.

Here is a watch that I really liked from earlier in this thread, with brown strap.

I hear a ton about the seiko 5, but I don't really think it looks good.  I mean it's not ugly, but it's kinda messy looking imo.

That looks cool too in brown, but they're sold out =/

I like these too

I'm open to any suggestions.
I'm looking for a slightly classy/classic watch with a brown strap.

Thanks!

All trash. I can't believe you are considering knock-offs. You haven't been in these forums long, and it appears you have misread what they are about. They are about style; style obtained from the self confidence you bring as well as what you say by what (and how) you are wearing. Wearing a knock-off time piece reveals a whole lot more about your character than you might think (or even want to admit).

This is dangerous territory. Cheap is a relative term. If you're looking for a quality vintage timepiece, you are unlikely to find one cheap. You're question indicates that you not knowledgeable about vintage and used timepieces, so my advice is to save your money and buy new from a reputable dealer; you're more than likely to get burned.

Thanks a lot. Yeah, I'm a newbie in watches and wanted to understand what made some of the vintage watches on ebay so cheap or what made some of them so expensive.

Hey SF, I'm looking for a cheap but classy watch and I was wondering what do you guys think would be better?

Newbie123's watch replaced with a black leather band

Or this Seiko 5 watch in a black leather band?

Something like this after the replacement.

I think they both would look great, but I can't choose between the two. Thanks a lot.

It looks great, is stainless steel and black so its easy to wear and has a horological history. Online they run for about 1.4-1.6k. That or you can get a Rolex DateJust pre owned, with a sapphire crystal two toned in gold/stainless or white gold/stainless online, they run about 2.5k. Stay away from TAG and Movado their the same price and terrible pieces. Either the Rolex DJ or Omega Speedmaster can be the last watch you buy if you no longer want climb higher into the horological hierarchy.

ETA are Swiss movements.

A speed master for 1.4k-1.6k and datejust for 2.5k? I hope you're talking euro because I've never seen prices like that in US dollars

I have the same watch (and I love it). I kept the OEM Nylon Strap on mine, but dig the nato as well.

The watch can be found sometimes on overstock.

The first watch is safe and versatile but boring. Watch 2.

What do you guys think of this watch for the price? Just looking for a dressy everyday wearer.

I doubt your credibility as a "snob" mainly because you sound like you're repeating whatever you've been reading in watch snob articles on askmen.
