My budget is less than 500. I want a swiss quartz/automatic watch (No Japanese, chinese, etc.). Can you guys recommend me a watch similar to the Stowa Antea? When I say similar I just mean the leather straps and a clean and simple face. Thanks everyone.

If you are a Stowa fan, you could check out Roland Kemmner's watches. ETA movements. Various styles. Solid quality. About half the price of a Stowa.

Looks like he has increased his range of styles, but switched some to Sea-Gull movements. Probably because ETA keep raising their prices.

On the bright side, it should mean my Marine 38mm will be worth more than I paid!

 

 

Damn those watches are nice but the prices for them are pretty high, especially in factoring shipping, duties, brokerage to Canada. And they seem similar to Stowa prices. 500+ on Ebay which is similar to what I found for Stowa watches.

You're comparing used prices to new. A used Kemmner runs about $300.

I've thought about getting one of their Chronographs which use the ETA7750 movement for about 600 euros. Not exactly poor man's watch territory but a relative value for a watch running the 7750 movement.

You could also look at the new Prometheus Signatura. I like the white face/blue hands combo -- Swiss made and runs on a Sellita SW220 movement. It's about $20 above your budget and has free worldwide shipping but I don't know what import taxes are like in Canada.

stowas show up on ebay for your price. they usually look mint and I'm always tempted to buy one.
