Well, its easier to say that watching. He has to mostly make up his mind before the pitch, and at 90mph + thats not a lot of adjustment time. Also, I mean, what is so far really? A few inches maybe. Its hard to see that from where stood as the pitch was headed at him.
And he is young, and had just gotten drilled in the leg, and he was under more pressure than any of us have probably ever been in our lives. Oh, and he was facing a stone cold post season ace that was on point like nobodies business.
All that said, yeah I would have loved to see something better there, but I cant say I was expecting it, or that I blame the dude.
The hit prior with the outfield triple error was insane though. Had he just been straight up running, and looking at his base coaches, not looking in the outfield, that could have well been an inside the park home run. I was shaking my head much more at that play than the Perez at bat. Just keep your eyes ahead at your coach and haul ass.
