Very happy Lohse landed. I picked him up with my last pick in the draft.

I have a very NL Central heavy squad.

I picked my second team today and got Votto, Latos, and Choo.

I grew up in Mke (can remember Yount, Molitor et. al) so I'm glad they got Lohse. But I thing they overpaid.

Verlander! Seven more years!

Posey got 9 too. Has Verlander always been a Tiger?

Wonder if there is a prop out there whether the Blue Jays overhaul will work or fall flat? Could work on paper, but how many loaded teams have we seen not work - many Yankee and BoSox teams come to mind.

Offseason went quick, which is fine by me. Enjoy the season all!!!

Tigers season opening lineup
Jackson 8, Hunter 9, Cabrera 5, Fielder 3, Martinez dh, "Dirt Bag" player, Peralta 6, Avila 2, Infante 4. Verlander is starting.

How can we go wrong with this lineup?
Pre game temp in Mini-Apolis: 29 degrees Football weather.

there are plenty of over/under bets on total wins, but you're probably too late to make the bet since the season started already.

Red Sox have some interesting young talent... Bailey Jr, Middelbrooks (who played last year) and tazawa (who's coming back from tommy john surgery) looking great today against the yankees.

Tigers closer by committee worked in Game One.
I think Phil Coke has put on some weight over the winter. It took him 17 seconds to sprint to the pitcher's mound.

This really bothered me but the AP had a preview of the season but they had a graph titled like VORP vs RBI or something and they were like "the debate between sabermatricians and traditionalists continues to get louder. More listening less talking and there would be realization there is plenty of ground in the middle." The problem is that there really isn't that much ground in the middle. There is a continuing and growing realization that the old narrative-driven statistics don't tell much at all. And when (no offense) you have people like Steve B. spouting off incorrect analyses of the stats it makes things even more difficult.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that sabermetrics realizes the inherent difficulty in quantifying player performance and what it is trying to do is isolate certain factors and get as precise as possible with its measurements.

ANd thankfully, the last propagators of poor analysis are old media types and literally dying. Well, there are them and lazy beat writers. But ****, whatever.
