Guy who complains about dirty slides (Odor) has a history of dirtier slides. Typical.

Did he complain about the slide? From a hypocrisy/consistency point of view, I do think there's a bit of a difference between complaining about it and acting in a way that sends a message like "if you do it to me, here's how I'll respond". Also, I'm inclined to believe that it was not entirely about the slide, but also or entirely about Bautista. But I haven't read anything Odor said one way or the other.

If it was a 'unwritten rules' sort of thing due to the bat flip, you just beaned the guy, it should be even now, no need to punch him.

If they had a problem with Bautista because of a bat flip from LAST YEAR then they should have hit him in the first game in his first at bat and get it over with rather than waiting all the way until his last at bat of his last game vs them so the blue jays can't retaliate or at least protect their own player.

The rangers are either hypocritical (if it was about the slide) or cowards (if it was about the bat flip. Not to mention the bat flip happened last year - get over it).

You guys are way overanalyzing. It was a chippy game the whole way and Odor got pissed off and punched a dude in the face. It happens.

Oh, I agree about the bat flip thing. I just hadn't heard Odor complain (as in, verbally) about the slide.

Also not sure you can tag "the Rangers" as being hypocritical. Obviously, I have no idea what really happened. Odor strikes me as one of those fake macho guys who even his own teammates end up hating. Blanking on the name of that mediocre starting pitcher from a few years back who developed a reputation, over several teams, for intentionally hitting batters in situations beyond the situations supposedly justified by the "unwritten rules". It became pretty clear that his own teammates, who ended up having to have his back during brawls (read: milling around on the field not really doing anything) or getting plunked themselves when the other team retaliated.

No games to watch this early in the day. What else are we going to do besides overanalyze the ones that have already happened? Argue about whether anime characters look Asian enough?

Well, I would argue that punching someone in the face for doing something that you do isn't necessarily hypocritical. I think if Odor slid hard on someone and they punched him in the face he'd be cool with it.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was suggesting, albeit not very clearly.

You know what is sad, the Yankees have 3 of the best relievers in the game but the bullpen still sucks.

I dream of the day Cashman is fired. That man has literally accomplished nothing in his career.

Nobody I know is okay with being punched in the face.

Sometimes a man has to admit that he deserved to get punched in the face.

I'm not sure I'd agree. I mean, nobody enjoys it. But there were times when I was playing ball when I made some overly aggressive play or comment, either with the deliberate intent to provoke someone or just because I got carried away by adrenaline, frustration, whatever. Had somebody punched me in the face on one of those occasions I would have fought back, but later after everything cooled down I might well conclude, "yeah, he was justified in popping me there, I was being kind of an asshole."

Fredi Gonzalez was fired because

1) They needed a scapegoat and
2) That way he can maintain a winning record as manager.

Not sure which is worse.
