PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -- Baseball's replay age has finally dawned, thanks to Thursday's unanimous approval by owners of what commissioner Bud Selig called a "historic" expansion of replay to correct missed calls.

For the first time, calls at first base, at the plate and on the bases will be reviewable. There will be limited exceptions, including the fabled "neighborhood play" at second base.

Why the fuck isn't the neighborhood play reviewable?

Replay is great in theory, but think about what it does to an already intolerably slow paced game

Btw I know I was complaining earlier about sports' refusal to use technology. There's just no pleasing me

Life without baseball is starting to get tedious.

4 more days max for the Tanaka decision! Seems as though he's choosing between the Cubs and NYY. I can't imagine why anyone would want to be a Cub.

Because then he wouldn't have to shamefacedly explain to people why he's a Yankee fight[1].gif

I don't know what's worse:

- The feeling of hopelessness I used to feel as an Oriole fan knowing that we were going to suck again for the umpteenth year in a row, but at least it was a blase hopelessness we were used to

or

- The feeling of hopelessness I now feel as an Oriole fan knowing that there actually could be a decent team in there if the owner gave two shits, but knowing that actually he thinks that two winning seasons buy him another 5 seasons of cutting payroll and coasting on the fan goodwill that's been achieved over those two winning seasons.

At least being a Marlins fan is less demanding. You only have to watch every 5 games.
