The comments on this article are pretty hilarious but also very depressing. This is why I stick to Fan Graphs and Prospectus.

Most pathetic double play ever. The Tigers should be ashamed.

Man, Detroit fans on heart attack watch.

good season tigers. at least you know where the holes/weaknesses are. easy to address with a great ownership/management group.

Kinda sad how that played out. Poor base-running, error, walks and a grand slam. Really wanted to see the Tigers win that game. Bummer.

So, how do you buy your way to the ability to hit in the post season? Prince Fielder has not had an RBI since last year's ALCS. I mean they've got two great great pitchers but they can only take the team so far.

hitting actually wasn't the tiger's problem. it was the bullpen, and weak defense at the corners of the infield.

Hey maybe Lawrence of MD will come to St. Louis to watch a World Series, to where we can have a meet-up!

I disagree. Prior to Labor Day, the Tigers were putting up 4-5 runs, on the average, per game. Throughout September, and certainly in the playoffs, we were lucky to get, sometimes, even one stinking run. The bull pen has been mostly good. For some reason, we specialize in leaving men on base.

Prince Fielder, who is a likable guy, is terrible at first base. His recent failure at the plate does not compare with the shoddy play at first base. At least once, during the regular season, Victor Martinez played first base. What a difference! Cabrera should have been the DH. Prior to his injuries, he was improving, constantly, as a third base player. He is a serious student of baseball.

This morning, I'm going to play "Es ist genung"--the title of the last piece of music J S Bach worked on before he died. Much sadness.

Congrats to the Cardinals and the Red Sox

NotGraphs Haiku: McCarver and Buck

Shut up. Please shut up.
I’m begging you. Shut the fuck
up for one second.

This has been a NotGraphs Haiku, written mostly out of frustration, because the commentary during the postseason makes the games borderline unwatchable.

those guys crack me up.

McCarver and Buck are both broadcasting legends with strong St. Louis roots, to where criticism of them is just basically a disguised jealousy of St. Louis (great American city).
