2017 MLB Season Thread

We just signed Gordon for 5/25, which seems pretty good. He should have been an All Star last year. Our starting pitching just sucks though, and our owner sucks harder. We've been in a 25 year rebuilding phase that has continually featured:
1) young prospects who we'll groom until they're ready to produce, at which time we trade them for washed up #4 starters near the trade deadline to salvage value.
2) washed up utility outfielders who are 8 years removed from their lone All Star appearance, who we have to overpay to get in free agency to compensate for the ineptitude and inexperience of the rest of the roster.
Even our stadium sucks now. It's so ******* corny. They've trashed it with dinky promotional ploys between innings and terrible top 40 music. Class dies in Kansas City.

I always thought Kaufmann Stadium was one of the most beautiful ballparks I've ever seen. Maybe its the shots I'm looking at but I love the fountains. The "hit it here" truck in the far left field is cheesy, but other than that I like it.

It was, now everything is cheesy as ****. They had some ****** architects remodel it a couple years ago , which severely diminished the fountain element, to the benefit of a bunch of hideous advertising signs, plastic ****, and empty seating sections that are better suited to an Arena League Football game. Everything looks cheap as **** now, and the game atmosphere is just ****. It's embarrassing. ****.

At least, Kansas City has a ballpark organist! Better than the canned music heard nearly everywhere else--including Comerica Park in Detroit. I'd love that job. I agree with you that the architects "improvements" are terrible.

You have to acknowledge a 10 inning start from Cliff Lee. Best 1-2 starting combo I've seen in a while. Better than Johnson and Schilling.

Yu Darvish! Oh, my gosh! He killed us, last night. At the bottom of the 9th inning, a friend texted me a classic Ernie Harwell saying: "All we need are 7 runs to tie and 8 runs to win."

a subscription to mlb.tv is a little spendy for the whole season, but they did a really nice job on it.

The Sox have been playing pretty well during an unspoken "rebuilding" year, and then they gift us with this. Humber seems to be finally living up to his potential these past couple of seasons.

As a side note, I love how fast Wikipedia gets updated.
