It seems like they're rewarding him for being with them for so long from the quotes that have come out.

And you do that by trading him to a contender. But not for a pu-pu platter! Jesus. What's next? Felix Hernandez for Omar Infante and Anibel Sanchez?

The Mariners are eating all but 2mil of Ichiro's deal. For 2 shit pitching prospects? I don't understand this one at all.
Let me tell you - you got fucking FLEECED.
Anibel Sanchez is going to get absolutely lit up by AL hitting.

i somewhat agree with Sanchez. however, i defend that the main piece of the trade is infante replacing any human with a pulse we have at 2nd. Sanchez is a 5th starter in the rotation and if he struggle i see leyland having no trouble benching him in place for smyly.

For your frontline pitching prospect? For a guy who IS major league ready you scored a middling pitcher and a player who would be relegated to utility duties on any other major league team, and you consider this to be a win?

it is a win now mentality. 82 year old owner who has gone on record saying he'd trade any of the stanley cups he has won with the wings to win a World Series. he wants to win now. he has the money to spend for another arm in the offseason. same type of mentality when he traded Maybin and Miller, our top two prospects at the time, for Cabrera and Willis. we all know how Willis panned out and Maybin and Miller haven't lived up to expectations. Also Turner's stuff has declined. don't know if that is the Tigers doing or his own limitations. in HS, he was throwing 96-99mph with plus curve etc. his fastball hasn't eclipsed 94 and scouts have been his curve has been off lately. granted he is 21 and can improve or sort it out. i'll concede that it was a lot to give up but the Tigers control every pitcher through 2014 (not sure about Smyly, the 5th start).

it's a win short term for the Tigers. out 2Bs have been horrible. infante has a better offensive numbers then any human we can throw out there. long term obviously is in the Marlins favor.

The Tigers did a sensible trade. The crown jewel--Catellanos--is not on the table. All the big name pitchers are just too expensive.

On another note, just today, I read an interview with Jm Price in the Freep and learned something that I did not know and often wondered about:

Question: Hi Jim, I love listening to you on the radio, you and Dan are the best. I have a question though, why do you always say "Batting thirrrrrd?" when announcing the 3rd batter in the each lineup?

Jim Price: Appreciate the compliment. My third son is autistic, and that's for him.

Hanley Ramirez is a Dodger! (Yes I am a Dodgers fan)

Boy that new stadium and Jose Reyes signing are looking REALLY GREAT now.

They could have done better than a two middling pitching prospects for Hanley. The did get the Dodgers to take him without paying any money though.

Yeah they went from buyers to sellers really quick. I love the trade as a Dodgers fan. Didn't give up much. Everyone knows ownership has no problem taking on payroll. HanRam currently is a huge upgrade over Uribe. It should be noted that I can't stand Uribe. If HanRam can regain some of his form from a few years ago, and he's still young enough to actually do it, then it'd be phenomenal.

the money for hammels is seems like too much. its more than lee and halladay's contracts right?

hammels is doing better than jon lester right now though....

I really wish I didn't splurge on the MLB.TV package this year.... the redsox have been painful to watch. I'll be doing something like washing dishes/on my bike rollers/ect and then just be dissapointed watching the redsox.

its a beautiful app though... on the computer or ipad and even the iphone it streams games beautifully. too bad the fucking sawx suck.

I bet they try to trade Lee but his performances this year have been lackluster. He did get screwed earlier in the year by poor run support like when he pitched 10 innings with 1ER an still lost. Now he has been brutal
