Bamboozled is one of the great words in the English language.

Giants strike out on Lester. Dare they enter the Scherzer sweepstakes?

I have a weird feeling that Scherzer ends up back in Detroit. I've seen this story where the GM says they aren't doing this or that and then 48 hours later, that very thing happens. Boras and the GM have a decent track record together. Maybe the Yankees will come calling.....

They've been shockingly quiet so far. What gives?

I don't think the Yankees want to give Scherzer the kind of money he's asking for. I'm on board with laying low and building the system. It would be a fool's errand to try and build mercenary teams without the core that they had for so long.

There was a bit of a blurred line with Mo retiring and then Jeter but the Yankees are solidly in a new era right now and it's going to take some time to regrow.

You are right. I don't think a lot of teams want to give a 30 year old pitcher 6 years $200 million or else he would've been picked up by someone already. Another reason why I think the longer he doesn't sign somewhere else, the better chance he stays in Detroit. Maybe that's just my optimism talking.

Yankees just signed Headley for 4/50 making the infield Headley, Sir Didi, Prado, Tex. Definitely better than last year's mess of an infield but it leaves them with 2 sluggers who can't field worth shit anymore and also can't slug in Arod and Beltran.

Last place here we come!

Not excited over the trading of Porcello to Boston for Cespedes. It is a lateral move--just to try something different. We are giving Porcello away as he is improving each year. And we are getting Cespedes as he seems to decline each year.

I am surprised that Boston was interested in Ricky P. The small confines of Fenway are not suited to his kind of game.

I agree somewhat. The rotation takes a step back as it stands, no doubt about that. I still have that feeling Max will end up back in Detroit. If, big If, that happens, then I love the trade. It does VASTLY improve one of the corners in the OF. Can't argue with the production it should give them, especially if JD isn't a flash in the pan.

At the end of the year, Price likely walks and you can always make a run at Porcello and/or Fister next offseason.

The US is restoring full diplomatic relations with Cuba. I'm interested to see what this means for Cuban ball players. I'm assuming the mega-contracts for unproven Cuban talent are going to be a thing of the past.

I would bet that Dave Dombrowski is on a plane headed for Havana as we speak.
