You really think the O's would do better? The O's that finished 2 games back and lost to the Yankees in 5? If anything it would be the same series. Also don't forget that the Yankees outscored the O's 16 to 10 in the ALDS with this comically bad hitting they're doing. I understand that the postseason is a new experience for you but let's be reasonable.

Baseball is unpredictable. The mother ******* Royals could randomly get hot, get lucky and come in and beat the Tigers in a series

No, no they couldn't. They are the Royals after all.

Preordering WS tickets at 1pm. Hopefully that isn't the kiss of death.

Trying to obtain Game 4 tickets.

in 2008 I bought WS tickets for the redsox during the alcs against the TB rays....

it was like the stars were lining up in the universe... it was right after the sawx made that 7run comeback....

was supposed to be a cool thing to do with my brother (have him fly back east.... hang out in NYC.. then drive to fenway and watch the game)....

didn't work out.... :fu:

Ha yah. Naturally I'm nervous. But it is the World Series. I have avoided preordering at all times during this year. No way I was goin to give the tigers a 4-5 month interest free loan on playoff tickets in August.

^HA HA, I'm old, I still remember when the O's were in the playoffis in the 90's, so it not THAT new. I've said for a while that the Yankees are old. Old and slow and its really starting to grind on the every day guys. The O's hit an unbelieveable cool streak with both Jones and Davis not hitting. Not because they're tired, maybe inexperienced in playoff baseball, but a lot of it I really do believe has to do with no Markakis in the line up.

I totally agree with this. To be fair, Ibanez and Jones were not supposed to be platooning in left field. They were just supposed to be lefty/righty DHs but their hand was forced when Gardner went down. I wouldn't be surprised if the O's took the division next year by a decent margin.

Catching up on this thread after a few days away, my notes on a few topics.

@ W/A - I wasn't saying all Yankee fans are assholes (even though most are!) so much as I was commenting on the way a particular Yankee fan acted in this thread after they won, as opposed to, say, how an Orioles fan celebrated a victory.

O's future prospects: I'm not as sold that this is a great team. As much as I fought it during the season, that run differential did mean something. I think the O's had great chemistry and a team of destiny aura to them, and I do believe much of it is attributable to the manager, and obviously he won't change, but some of those winds will shift. Can they really keep winning 1-run and extra inning games? That's a razor thin margin to be hanging your hat on. And while some of the players form a solid nucleus (I'm thinking Jones, Machado, Wieters), many others are shaky. McLouth played pretty well, but there's a reason he's been cut by multiple teams in recent years. Can that bullpen possibly stay in such insane form? No way. Do we suddenly think that there's a pitching rotation here? Joe Saunders? Really?

Jeter Injury: I've always hated Derek Jeter, but in recent years I've come around. Still hate the guy, but respect the **** out of him. That catch he made charging into the stands vs. the Sawx is one of the all-time great heart plays IMO. He does it the right way, keeps his nose clean, classy guy all around. Sucks that he's hurt. Though I will say it's a bit of karma coming around... It's an ugly allegation, and I have no evidence, but I still firmly believe CC beaned Markakis on purpose. Of course, another reason to hate the Yanks is them nickel and diming Jeter on his contract just a year or two after spreading 'em for A-Fraud with no cause.

Yankees complaining about calls: LOL. I guess they're not complaining about that McLouth HR. Suddenly now they want more technology. More karma, return to sender.

There are several reasons why these aren't analogous events. One usher's opinion is incontrovertible evidence, huh?

another reason they're not perfectly analagous is that one of them was a HOME RUN.

Do you have any proof besides your bias and an unnamed usher?

I don't need proof. All I'm noting is the irony of Girardi asking for "more technology" when "more technology" would have helped determine whether or not McLouth's ball was fair. In addition to the usher I believe the video shows the ball clearly changing angles. But ultimately it doesn't even matter, I'm just making a general comment.

How is it ironic? The play was reviewed and both managers were satisfied. I can't think of any technology that would have been able to make a definitive call on that play. And if we are really talking Karma what about the play at first on Teixeira in the regular season that would have put the O's further behind?

Douglas 1 (Weiters being a real catcher)
Emart 1 (the McLouth HR)

Sorry, that would have been only a tying run, not a winning or go ahead run. The same way you can't assume a double play, you can't assume the Yankees would win.
