I agree that Leyland should have Googled his answer before commenting.

He's old, probably doesn't have a smart phone.

If they asked Buck this question you can be damn sure he'd have at least some of those stats off the top of his head.

In fact, he really only has two cheap wins v. Oakland 7-6 with 6 ER in 5 IP and v. KC 7-5 with 5 ER in 5 IP.

So he has real proof to shut down the run support question but Leyland went with the old man answer and defenestrated all stats (except the almighty win).

Well, wins are definitely an overrated, old-fashioned stat.

i think you meant to say:

"I think leyland should have smoked a couple butts and calmed down before commenting."

i mentioned before about the jona kerri podcast... he does mention (and I do see this a lot with analytic minded fans) that the current analytics crowd love to hate-watch Ron Washington. Washington does all the old school things in the face of an organization that is on the forefront of the analytics game (at least when it comes to acquiring talent).

the rangers are weird, because it seems like they either finally got through to nolan ryan (in regards to analytics) or maybe ryan is just a figurehead at this point to calm the public.

Does anyone? stirpot.gif

Given where the Giants are not much chance of that. frown.gif

What's odd is I don't mind the Dodgers at all. The Diamondbacks- there's a source of enmity.

And the Tigers lose 20-4 at Fenway. Oy!

tl;dr Thread

Hell, I'm scoring more than the 2013 Nationals.

I hope that the Red Sox expended all their scoring for the week last night

is 9 alright?
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
sketchey assed game all around. blown calls, blown Mo Save, blown 5 run leads. John Ferrell is getting a little cute with leaving pitchers in these days. Then again Girardi seems to want to deplete his whole bullpen in the 1st game of the 4 game series.

naturally I had to watch the YES broadcast - and it was sad when even the YES guys had distain for Joba when he started warming up. sure joe west blew the call on victorino, but you also gave up the hit.

2 too many. Joe West is a fuck. At least Price is getting hammered by the Angels.

I miss the days when the Yankees and Sox could slug it out and it didn't really matter because the Yankees would make the playoffs and sometimes so would the Sox. This is no fun when it matters!

Yeah, Coney really wanted him to make that play. I think that comes from firsthand frustration of getting porched, as they say. They noted on the box score that it would not have been a home run at any other park.

Chavez just busted a perfect game on a 3-2 fastball with 2 outs. NL perfect games are usually 2 at bats away from a real perfect game anyway.
