It's charming how little the game has changed. I wish pitchers would go back to being junkballers though, fastballs are lame.

Defender?

Davis is in the Derby. Hopefully that fucks up his swing. I want to see back to back triple crowns

He is easily the best defensive 3b in the league. He has the same WAR as Cabrera so let's call it a tie overall.

It is ridiculous how many doubles he hits. Im guessing eventually some of those will turn into home runs.

Yeah, that's the conventional wisdom, that a guy who hits a lot of doubles is squaring up on a lot of balls that may turn into power later. And at 21, Machado still has some growing to do.

Still, I'm not totally convinced that will be the case for him. A lot of his doubles he "steals" with speed. He turned a routine single into a double the other night just by legging it out and catching the defense by surprise.

I suppose he could bulk up over the course of his career (a bit like Cabrera) but unless that power were otherworldly, IMO it would be at the expense speed and defense, which are a part of his overall game. I think it would be to his detriment.

Though, perhaps, it would extend his career.

Hard to tell how Machado will fill out. I don't think a lot of people thought Cabrera would be the size he is now, although the partying in his younger days might not have helped him keep a slender figure.

Next year will be a telling year. He will be the same age as Cabreras first full season. He hit 33 HRs.

Nice 3 out of 4 game wins against the Indians. Now, the Tigers face--for the first time this season--the White Sox. Who made up THIS schedule? We're going to see a lot of the Sox for the rest of the season. With their record, this is probably a good thing. I am going to the Thursday afternoon game; Sanchez will be pitching.

Gotta love the Don Kelly home run after a horrible meltdown.

No, I did not! shog[1].gif

I was so enthralled by the whole scene that I forgot to take a picture. I'm sure that I have never seen the dugouts and the bull pens empty at a baseball game. A lot of posturing, but no fisticuffs. When the guys from both bull pens came charging across the field, no one knew what to expect. The crowd was on their feet. I would have loved to have had a microphone on Leyland as he "conversed" with the umpires. It seemed to take forever. The air was electric at that moment.

That was the highlight of the game. To lose is bad. But to lose to the White Sox is untenable!

Cashman to discuss Jeter's MRI later this afternoon. That can't be good.

I predict in 1.5 months Lincecums arm will fall off.

Look back on this 148 pitch outing

Man, haters gonna' hate.

Not hating on him. It's an incredible feat. 150 pitches is a crazy amount. Look what happened to Santana when he threw his 134 pitch no hitter. He was never the same. Granted he was older at the time and I am sure he had injuries before but still
