McClain: 31-6, yes. In the Series, McClain was not impressive. Lolich, however, won 3 games including a complete outing in Game 7. There was little love between those two.

There are days when I wish Mayo Smith was back. Sometimes, when the team was in a slump, he pretended to be asleep on the bench--allowing the players just to go out and play and make their own decisions.

Chris Davis is so full of shit. I don't believe for a second that he's not juicing.

My opinion would be the same if he were a Yankee.

year plate appearances hr at bats per hr hr per 500 ab hr/fly ball ratio
2008 317 17 18.65 26.81 20.5
2009 419 21 19.95 25.06 19.6
2010 136 1 136.00 3.68 3.4
2011 210 5 42.00 11.90 10
2012 562 33 17.03 29.36 25.2
2013 197 16 12.31 40.61 29.6

These are bullshit numbers.

He may be juicing, but the year over year improvement is within range If you throw out '10 and '11.

Today, at Comerica Park, was a celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Detroit Tigers World Series championship team. A dozen members of the team returned for the reunion. Before the pregame ceremonies, there was a Q & A session. In the park, there was a formal recognition of the team. The National Anthem was sung by Jose Feliciano (second picture) just as he did in old Tiger Stadium at the '68 Series. (He was seated at home plate.) Lots of nostalgia. Gorgeous day for baseball. Fantastic seats. Bad ending as we lost, 3-2.

I'm so glad that they had this reunion. Sadly, how many of them will be left in 5 more years?

Where is Comerica? I've been to Detroit a few times and am curious.

You guys are real fans. I applaud you.

Comerica is on Woodward on the northern portion of what I would deem "acceptable areas to visit" of Detroit. There's enough activity there where the lowlifes usually dare not fuck with. Ford Field, Comerica, casinos etc. Dan Gilbert and a group of folks are buying up properties like crazy in the area for companies to move to. Soon, the wings will announce the new stadium just north of Comerica Park so Illitch will have his entire empire in one little area covering a few square blocks.

I'm thinking of picking up Andy Dirks. What do you guys think?

if he puts out on the first date, then sure

Be quiet.

We're talking fantasy baseball here.

Not a bad pick up. Not sure if you do auction or just free agent pickups.

Leyland seems to rest him against lefties, like today. He gets the nod 70% of the time. I think he could do well once Victor starts hitting better. He bats 1-2 spots after him.

There's probably a better option available in your league but hard pressed to find someone in as good a spot as he. Even though Victor has struggled Dirks bats behind Cabrera, Fielder, Victor, Peralta. Not bad

If Torii gets hurt, Dirks would bat second.

If you were to stroll around the immediate area around Comerica Park, you'd think you were in one of the nicest cities in the country. A few blocks further, and things begin to change. This is not to say that there are not pockets of good things. You just have to look for them. It is amazing to visit the site of the old Tiger Stadium. That plot of land on "The Corner" looks so small!

Leyland thinks the world of Andy. He calls him a real "dirt bag" player! Of course, Don Kelly is the true favored son.

He's highest ranked Yahoo outfielder for the last 30 days (51). 239 for season so he's trending up. 1.3 on the Prospectus.

The other guy I'm looking at picking up is Brandon Moss, who is the exact reverse (239 now), can also play 1B. 1.7 on BD.

I'm down to less than 40 moves, so I need to start watching them.

Our league's oddity is the number of categories scored and the ability to trade draft picks.
