2014 MLB Season Thread - Page 124

It was cool and unique when the Cowboys dubbed themselves America's team, now anyone who tries to copy that in other sports seems to be overcompensating.

Been quiet lately as not to jinx the Cards (please note I do not live in St. Louis). See if we can wrap this up and repeat the '06 triumph over the Tigers.

the whole idea is bogus. competitive sports is all about different teams. having an americas team is contrary to the DNA of competitive american sports.

Side note: the flag is hung the wrong way in this picture. The stars should be in the top left corner.

If any team from America's four major sports (baseball, football, basketball, hockey) truly deserves the title of America's Team, it would probably be the Milwaukee Bucks.

since every writer is talking about this 5 day layover, it being almost exactly like the 06 WS, i am now worried we will come out flat, get behind, and lose.

Yup, it's weird to think but it's true.

Man, what a shitty result tonight. That game would have looked very different if Lynn hadn't thrown the ball at second base.

more like on second base

I disagree. The Skipper learned his lesson from '06. There will be scrimmages with minor league players to keep the Tigers sharp. Already, fans are asking if the public will be allowed to watch. We'll be ready this time.

don't worry B. you will win.

Figuring its the Cardinals their rotation isn't as good and Beltran is a little hobbled it appears. Detroits rotation will be set whereas either the cards or giants would be sort of up in the air, especially if it goes 7. I would seeing Game 1 be Lance Lynn vs Verlander.

Clarinet, are you going to any games? I'm thinking about going to Lions game at 1 then Tigers game at whatever time. Definitely would take Monday off of work.

Even if the Tigers are playing their best, I don't think they can defeat the defending World Series champions.

Aren't you in academia? Be a little more objective. Whoever wins the NLCS has no shot against the Tigers of Detroit.

Yes, that's very true indeed. Unless the winners of the NLCS are the Cardinals of St. Louis (aka Saint Louis).
