Fighting against all odds against the iron fist rule of New York. That merry band of self proclaimed "idiots" who won over America's hearts. Sorry if I'm too hard on them, but to complain about tactics used by a team to win and then use the very same tactics....to me is hypocritical.

There are no "loveable losers" or "scrappy underdogs" in professional sports, but the Red Sox fit those descriptions worse than most.

you have to admit:

- millar, damon, and ramirez were and still are huge idiots who happen to be very good baseball players.
- you can probably include Schlling into the idiot list as well - but he's a calculating arrogant and boastful idiot as time has proven.
- being down 0-3 to any team in a 7 game series is pretty much fighting against virtually impossible odds.

calling the yankees the "evil empire" was a genius move by Lucchino (probably one of the only good tactical moves he's done during his tenure as minority owner). its like how NYC has incorporated dirt, grime, and "mean pushy new yorkers" into integral part of NYC goers tourist appeal. I've been on the subway and seen tourists from spain and russia clapping their hands out of joy while dirty street kids breakdance inside the subway cars nearly getting kicked in the face while they hand them dollar bills after wards.

I was going to say in my original post that this was remarkable. They even went on to sweep the WS which means they won 8 straight post season gams. Very good, but still very canned.

Slopho - clearly you've never spent time with a Cubs fan.

Another unearned run. Another 1 run loss. As only 12,000 showed up for the make-up game in Cellular Field, we could sit anywhere we wanted. The magic number for the Sox is 14. Two bad lossesin a row for the Tigers.

Not really, are they bad fans? The only negitve thing I've ever seen was the Steve Bartman incident and to be quite honest I would have pelted him too. The only reason Jeffery Maier made it out of Camden Yards the night he interfered with Tony Tarasco was because he was 14 years old. Which could get me on another rant about how this kid basically went on Late Night with David Letterman and other talk shows and was celebrated for interfering with a game....pissed me off to no end.

Um, the only reason Jeffrey Maier got out of Camden Yards that night is that he was at Yankee Stadium.

^dude that was in yankee stadium. caught by a little shit yankees fan. the umps stupidly upheld the call of the home plate ump even though there was two umps closer who probably saw the kid reach over - and the yankees got the home town call and it was celebrated like it was the proper thing to do because of all the yankee lore. at least now they have replay and they kick the out fans who interfere with play inside the field.

the reason why cubs fans are hated is because 65% of the people that show up are there to be at the "wrigley party". i was there in 2010 and was amazed at all the pretty people in the stands.... it turns out to be true though because by the 4th inning everyone was drinking, mingling, and flirting walking around like a huge party. It was a lot of fun, but the baseball definitely takes 2nd priority to the party people.

Then when the cubs start sucking they attach a "woe is me" vibe to the whole situation to have something to bond about.

its pretty much the whole reason the "bleacher creature" crowd was created. It was a safe haven for die hard fans, gamblers, and curmudgeons alike to congregate. Sadly the party people have made it to the bleachers too.

but again, I have no hate towards cubs fans, because honestly it was a fun place to be with lots of very very pretty women drinking heavily and ready to flirt. why not have fun at a baseball game where you could possibly hook up. if they are losing the all the more reason to drink and have fun and troll for tail, if they are winning then its the same and you have something to cheer for.

Well, it's either that or the walls at the Yard used to be blue.

ps. Tarasco should have jumped, that bum.

Tony was the outfield version of Lenny Webster...who was in turn the catching version of Manny Alexander.

Tigers win two-in-a-row with no small thanks to MVP candidate, Miguel Cabrera.
Finally, the White Sox lose! C'mon, Kansas City! You can do it again.
Clinching the Division is not impossible, but time is slipping away; the Sox magic number is 13. Hoping the Rays and the Angels can help us out!

clarinetplayer - after what happened in the dying days of the season last year, nothing is impossible. Hell you're only two games back with 14 to go.

Me - I am hoping for another Braves collapse so I can get both my Cards and Dodgers in. A guy can dream anyway.
