Well the O's finally got rid of Jeremy Guts, for a 29 y.o. reliever and a 31 y.o. pitcher. Boy this deal stinks.

Ridiculous. Guthrie was so underrated.

Without him eating nearly 200 innings a year, it only means more innings for guys named Jakubauskas and VandenHurk.

^ LOL Garrett Jones was taken off the table. That would seem like a pretty good straight up deal. Knowing the Pirates they'll send McCutchen over in the deal.

Interesting to see the Cespedes go to the As. That's big money the As don't usually throw around. Without looking at it, I bet he is their top paid player or close to it.

Good luck in hitting it out of there. Also there will be a lot of full cut pop up outs to foul territory. IMO.

yeah, i was thinking about that too. kinda surprised the higher $ teams didn't throw that kind of money out. it'll probably come out that he's 34 years old with a grandchild or something.

ever been to that stadium? its one of the easier stadiums to actually catch a foul ball.

the "Premium" club/open air bar/restaurant is right in prime foul ball territory (2nd deck right off the 1st base line). The club seats are actually a great value (its like $35 bucks for a semi buffet - get all the food/drinks/dessert you want once - eat at the open air restaurant/bar then you still have an assigned seat on the 2nd deck).

the locals know where the balls come in (obviously where the imaginary baseline continues up) and keep the section of the bar/tables open and sit and watch intently as some guy distracted while eating/drinking gets pegged in the face.

my brother and I were at the bar and the bartender said: "normally I wouldn't say this to two redsox fans, but maybe you should move over 5 feet" .

10 min later at that spot a random dude ended up getting pegged in the face. He had a broken nose and finger (from the fall off the bar stool).

people are too busy eating/drinking to really scramble to get the foul balls that fly in.

^ that is one reason my dad got rid of his seats at Comerica. my mom was scared shitless of our seats. i'll never forget the day she threw in the towel. We used to sit on the first base line about 1 section past 1st Base. Interleague play. David Wright against some lefty. Can't remember who. As soon as I heard the ball hit the bat, I heard it whizzing our way and hit the deck. it crashed into the row in front of us and shot down a few rows. it was so fast and loud about 20 others did the same thing. no way was anyone catching that bare handed and had it hit anyone, it would've seriously injured someone.

As of last year, anyway, I think Coco Crisp was highest salary at $6 M a year, so this new guy (with no major league experience) will burst that bubble.

By the way, Coco Crisp wasn't born with that name, was he? I don't know if that'd be worse than changing it to "CoCo" as an adult like Ochocinco.
