So now the Yankees are pushing back against the Pirates for more prospects. What the **** is Cashman thinking? Get rid of this **** head before the ship burns down!

Tim Wakefield retires. Hall or nothing?

most likely not.

but he'll eventually be in the redsox hall of fame -which is good enough.

the weird thing about wakefield, as a redsox fan, is that he was always part of such painful losses.

my favorite memory of wakefield came with a loss in Oakland 2007, I was visiting my brother in San Francisco and we drove down with no tickets and just walked up to the vendor and got seats on the field (but it was on the dangerous 1st base line). we actually got to talk a little to Varitek (because the bullpens are right up against the wall/fans).

wake had 11Ks in 8inn and still lost. typical weirdo wake outing. the best part was seeing this weird crazy white haired bearded old white guy just blabbering and almost kicked out of the game. It turns out that was the guy involved in the "call the amber lamps" viral video.

this does free up a starting spot now... the fact that you kind of had to grand father wake into the starting rotation was always an unspoken disadvantage amongst redsox fans towards the last 3 years.

quote of spring training last year:

on CC Sabathia losing 25lbs:

"Not eating [whole boxes of] Cap'n Crunch every day," Sabathia said.

this year:

on AJ Burnetts lack of consistent success with the yankees before being traded to the pirates:

"I let a few too many people tinker [with] me"

Cabrera is looking good after dropping 25lbs or so.

Srs? I think the Tigers are going to qualify for MLB's fattest team. I saw a pic of Cabrera and Fielder together. It was definitely :uhoh: worthy.

I'll take more errors and missed ground balls over inge's offensive numbers any day.

And just the fact that a year ago he was arrested and this year he looks fully committed has me really excited.

Itll be very interesting to see how Braun does without fielder. He will still put up gaudy numbers but I think they'll dip a little.

+1. I'm still not super optimistic about the Brew Crew's chances this year, but that will certainly help. And who knows, it looks like the Cards won't be as much of a force in the NL Central this year. Maybe the Brewers can repeat as division champs. (The Reds will be interesting to watch, though.)

They weren't much of a force last year and they won the World Series. Just saying.

Very true. It'll be interesting to see how this season plays out for the Cards. They obviously lost some very big pieces, but they also get Wainwright back, and all those young arms in the bullpen have a bit of Major League experience under their belts now. If Jaime Garcia lives up to his potential for a full season, they should have a very good pitching staff.
